Righto, if you have recently hit follow and you are wondering what you will get, we should probably introduce (or re-introduce) ourselves before things get weird.
We are Matt and Leisa. We spent years working in emergency services, turning up on the worst days of people's lives and sometimes, their last. You see enough of that and something shifts. You stop assuming there is plenty of time left and start doing the living now.
Matt now works remotely in the caravan and camping industry, which he will tell you is a very serious professional role and not just a job that lets him spend all day talking about camping and then go camping. Leisa is still with the ambulance service because it's part of her DNA, but her roster gives her the freedom to travel regularly. She actually works less than five months a year. That's seven months worth of adventures to be had.
Ivy, our boxer, rounds out the crew. We travel to dog-friendly spots to accommodate her very specific needs, so you will see her sweet face from time to time. No national park has ever brought us the joy that her funny, loving nature does.
Matt is behind the video camera and the drone, filming and editing everything over on YouTube, so it's worth heading there and hitting subscribe. Leisa handles the photos and socials, so the voice here is a little softer than what you will get from Matt's videos. Same adventures, different angle. Though we reckon you can probably tell when Matt sneaks in to answer comments here on Facie.
We are equally at home in the Outback or by the sea. Red dirt or salty air, we love it all, though the desert areas of Australia have well and truly stolen our hearts. And while the scenery is often stunning, it's the stories behind the places that really pull us in. Talking to local characters, digging into fascinating histories, finding the spots that will never make a tourism brochure but are worth every kilometre to get to.
If this were the '70s, we would be that couple hosting a dinner party, pouring wine, and making you sit through a slideshow of our travels. Thankfully we have got better tools these days, though we do miss Leisa's Dads slide projector and 8mm film.
We also genuinely love learning from the people who follow along, so if you know something we don't, or we've got something wrong, please jump in. Book recommendations about the areas we have visited is like gold to us. That's what makes this little corner of the internet worth showing up to.
Thanks for hitting follow. We know your time is precious and we don't take it for granted.
