‼️ Tenants: PLEASE read this ‼️
After renting for 3 years, I just had my entire bond of $2,380 claimed by Rent Star Property Management — before I was even given the exit report.
That’s right: they submitted a Fast Track claim with the RTA without giving me a chance to see or respond.
The report included:
• Damage I reported years ago that was never fixed
• Pre-approved hooks for photos (now listed as damage)
• Blinds that were broken when I moved in and requested to be fixed multiple times
• Low-quality, blurry photos used as evidence
• And a demand to fix 20+ things in 24 hours after vacating
I hired a cleaner, responded promptly, was cooperative — and still, I was treated like I didn’t exist in the process. I wasn’t even copied in on the emails.
I’ve now lodged a formal dispute with the RTA and a complaint with Fair Trading. Because it’s not just about bond.
It’s about ethics, accountability, and how everyday renters are being taken advantage of by agencies that assume we don’t know our rights.
