Your book is seen before it’s read.

Because a cover isn’t just design, it’s positioning, presence, and promise.

This is where first impressions become lasting impact.

What readers are saying…

“Well-researched and well-documented. It’s not just a book about religion.
It’s a book about the development of civilisation. This is going to be one of my favourites — and a book that I’ll read more than once.”

Two authors. Both 94 years of age. Both with nearly a century of life behind them. ❤️

Everald Compton founded St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, created National Seniors Australia, and has spent decades as a public advocate for longevity, religion, and democracy. His book Walking with the Man sparked debate right across the country.

Neill Florence served as headmaster of several high schools in rural and metropolitan Queensland. He is a novelist in his own right with a gift for characters that feel completely real.
Together they sat down and wrote Walk in the Spirit — and both of them believe it is the finest work of their lives.
There is something remarkable about that. Two people at 94, still asking the big questions. Still writing. Still walking. 📖

Meet Liam Chan. 🌏
Liam grew up in Hong Kong with the Confucian Analects as his guide to living well — a set of principles about relationships, community, and what it means to be a good person in the world.
When he comes to Rockhampton, Queensland, he meets Alma Appleby. A Baptist. A bridge-builder. Someone asking exactly the same questions from a completely different direction.
What happens when two people from opposite sides of the world sit down and compare notes on how to live a good life? In Walk in the Spirit, Everald Compton and Neill Florence give us the answer — and it is warmer, more honest, and more surprising than either of them expected.

We’re incredibly proud to share our first book of 2026, Walk in the Spirit by Everald Compton and Neill Florence.

At 94 years of age, both Everald and Neill have brought a lifetime of wisdom, lived experience and reflection into this story. A quiet, powerful invitation into compassion, conversation and what it means to live with purpose.

The launch at Royal on the Park was a beautiful reflection of that, thoughtful, grounded and genuinely connected. Every detail carried meaning, including a subtle nod to the book’s journey through the Uluru burger on the night.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring this moment to life:
Carol Bouwer Creative for the incredible photographs
Deb Purkiss - Social Media Angel Australia for the socials and marketing expertise
Royal on the Park for the venue and hospitality
Leisa Gill (BNI Bris Southwest and Toowoomba) for the ongoing support
Rebecca Levingston for officially launching the book
Hon Shayne Neumann MP for attending and supporting

And of course, to Everald Compton and Neill Florence, thank you for trusting us with your story.

Every great book begins with a messy first draft.

Write the rough version.
Finish the draft.
The masterpiece comes later.

We are incredibly proud to officially launch Walk in the Spirit—the first Clark & Mackay release of 2026 written by Everald Compton AO and Neill Florence.

Two days until Walk in the Spirit is in the world.

Everald Compton and Neill Florence have spent years on this novel — a story of interfaith friendship, progressive faith, and the lives of five people in Rockhampton who find that walking together changes everything.

It is a sequel to Walking with the Man, but it stands beautifully on its own. Whether you have read Everald's earlier work or are coming to this story fresh, Walk in the Spirit is a page turner.

Friday 27 March. Mark your calendar. Tickets are still available: https://spiritwalker.org.au/book-launch

Print on Demand is a low-quantity printing option that allows books to be produced from as little as one copy at a time.

This method is ideal for authors who want a low-cost entry into the market or for those who prefer to test demand before committing to larger print runs.

With POD, books are printed only when they are ordered, helping reduce upfront costs while still making your book available to readers.
