Dark Essence Radio, 264 Barry Parade (2025)

It is with a great amount of honour to announce that Dark Essence will be teaming up with Acid Bath Radio (UK).

The first episode will hit Mixcloud on October 17th and will be repeated on Acid Bath Radio at the usual time (Mondays 10pm-12am AEST), and new episodes will be on a weekly basis.

Episode 1 of the revamped Dark Essence (Episode #960 if you're keeping track) will include an interview with Dorian from the revamped Jesus On Ex**sy who dropped a stellar album 'Between Despair & Disbelief' on Metropolis Records last month.

Fresh off a tour with Die Krupps and about to embark on a tour with KMFDM; Dorian is pumped to talk all about the new album, the reactivation of Jesus On Ex**sy, and to guest-program a block of his current favourite tracks from the scene.

As you may have heard; Dark Essence is no longer broadcasting on 4ZzZ.

I heard some awful content after what was to become my final broadcast, and I raised it in the private Slack channel. 4ZzZ is a station which has an immeasurable reach. If I didn't call it out; this behaviour would be left unchecked, and it would only be a matter of time before it was mentioned in a public forum (in this circumstance, it already was).

A number of people from 4ZzZ ganged up on me and made threats (namely Liz, Alison, and Patrick). I was subsequently banned from the Slack, was banned from doing my program on August 25, and the manager requested a meeting to address **MY** conduct. My conduct for calling out people who were not doing the right thing on air. I declined the meeting and resigned from the station, because it didn't sit right with my own morals.

"Whether you like it or not, you will become a public figure"; those words were bestowed upon me when I started this journey in 2006, and they will forever ring true. This is broadcast radio on FM. If your skin is so thin that you can't handle the tiniest criticism, then you shouldn't be in the industry.

This is not what I thought 4ZzZ was. The writing has been on the wall for a long time. One man calls all of the shots these days (you have extra leverage if you play his band on your program). And, calling out actions which will bring the station into disrepute will bring about administrative action. Not towards the offenders, but towards the one who made the complaint.

Dark Essence will continue as a podcast - my plan is to have this up and running by the end of September 🖤
