This episode returns to Victoria Park, Barrambin, where the Goori Tent Embassy is resisting the Queensland Government’s Olympic stadium plans.

After police and authorities moved in on Friday 29 May 2026, tents were removed, activists were moved on, and the sacred fire was disturbed, I spoke with respected activist Uncle Adrian Burragubba at the Embassy about cultural rights, police power, protecting Country, and why this fight is not over.

A 24-year-old Warlpiri man with disability (Kumanjayi Walker) died after he was restrained by two plain-clothed police officers almost a year ago, and today on National Sorry day, his family were told by The Northern Territory Police that no charges will be laid over his death???!!!!

What a disgrace!!!!!! How much more injustice are Aboriginal people meant to endure??!!

The family of the 24-year-old man who died while in police custody at an Alice Springs supermarket last year has released a statement after hearing no charges would be laid over his death.

There’s a reason why I called this podcast ‘Blak Justice’: it’s about the whole concept of justice and how our mob try and find our own blak justice in a western justice system that oppresses and kills our people!

This western justice system & its effects on our people was introduced to our culture through colonisation and it conflicts with our own cultural LORE every day!

We’re all seeing Blak Justice play out right now in Alice Springs. Western law V’s Aboriginal LORE= pay back, it’s the way our mob have operated forever!

The rioting, the anger, the damage, it’s all trauma and people are hurting, and rightfully so.

I want to offer my love and strength to the family of Kumanjayi Little Baby during this sorry business time & hope the community are able to find their own Blak justice and healing from this tragedy.

Out of respect for the family and the communities affected by this tragedy, I will be pausing the release of all episodes of Blak Justice until further notice.

Father and son Derek Sandy Jrn Jrn and Uncle Derek Orman have established a Goori Tent Embassy with their supporters, and are standing in resistance against the proposed new Olympic stadium, fighting for land, and sovereign Blak Justice on their own terms

Hi everyone,

I thought it was time to properly introduce myself and put a face to the voice of Blak Justice for those who don’t know me.

I’m Carly Wallace, I’m a Dulguburra Yidinji woman from Far North Queensland, now based in Brisbane.

Before starting the podcast Blak Justice, I’ve spent over 20yrs working across both Blak and mainstream media, reporting on our mob’s stories all over the country.

I’ve also worked as a youth worker and community advocate, walking alongside young people and families navigating systems that aren’t always built for us as mob!

This podcast isn’t work for me, it’s personal. Like so many in our communities, my own life and family have been impacted by the justice system.

I started Blak Justice to create a space for truth-telling, where people can share real experiences, in our own voices, without being filtered or misunderstood.

This is about shifting the narrative, building understanding, and making sure our stories & experiences with the justice system are heard the way they deserve to be.

In Australia, Domestic and family violence continues to impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women at disproportionately high rates.

In this episode of Blak Justice, Leah shares her lived experience of domestic violence, speaking about the realities of survival, and the challenges of seeking safety and support as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman living in a remote community.

Like many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, Leah did not call the police. Her story reflects the deep mistrust, fear, and complex realities mob have with the justice system that shape decisions around seeking help, and the gaps in systems that are meant to protect. This is a story not just of survival, but of truth-telling, and it speaks to experiences shared by too many.
