Sid Wilson has posted on Instagram for the first time since reports claimed he had been removed from Slipknot — but he did not address the story, instead promoting his personal merch store.

The post offers no confirmation or denial, leaving his status with the band unclear.

The Sid Wilson/Slipknot situation is getting weird.

Jim Root has warned fans not to ‘believe everything they read’. Kelly Osbourne has posted this…

No names were mentioned, so I’m not claiming it is connected at all, she could just be posting a meme completely unrelated to the situation. But there have been some seriously pointed posts going up.

“Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”

In a message shared to his verified Instagram Story shortly after the report began circulating, Root urged fans to slow down and wait for more information before accepting what they had read.

Sid Wilson has reportedly been kicked out of Slipknot after more than 25 years with the masked metal band.

TMZ reports that Wilson was notified late Friday afternoon that he had been permanently removed from the group, citing a source described as close to the band and possessing direct knowledge of the situation. The reason behind the reported decision has not been disclosed.

Neither Slipknot nor Wilson has issued a public statement confirming the report at the time of writing. That means the news remains attributed to TMZ rather than officially announced by either party.

Update 2:45pm Jim Root has posted the below on Instagram story

“Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”

If you’ve ever wondered why System Of A Down seem to disappear for years before suddenly announcing a handful of massive shows, drummer John Dolmayan has finally given fans the answer.

“Every show we play is always special for us, cause there’s so few of them. It’s by design though. We like to tour very limited. We like to be home most of the time.

“When we tour, what’s interesting is how big the venues have become, especially on this last tour in Europe. Like last time we came [to Poland], it was probably — I don’t know, 15 [thousand], 20 thousand people — and now it’s… What does that stadium [in Warsaw] hold? 50 [thousand]? [And we are playing] two shows.

“And what I’ve noticed on this tour is so many people travel… other people are coming from different countries to the…show. Which is interesting. I hadn’t seen that much of that in the past. But people are doing it. And we’re ready to play.”

A return Australian fans have waited 15 years to see

System of a Down have not performed in Australia since headlining Soundwave in 2012. Their final show of that run took place in Perth, meaning the opening night in Sydney will end an absence of almost 15 years.

The 2027 dates arrive after the band’s recent EU and UK summer stadium run, which included consecutive sell-outs in Paris, London and Warsaw. The Australian shows continue that stadium-scale chapter and mark the band’s first local headline tour in more than a decade.

Few heavy bands carry the same cross-generational pull. Since emerging with their self-titled debut in 1998, System of a Down have turned an intensely individual mixture of metal, punk, Armenian musical influence, political urgency and surreal humour into a body of work that remains instantly recognisable.

Albums including Toxicity, Steal This Album!, Mezmerize and Hypnotize produced songs that have continued finding new audiences long after their initial release. “Chop Suey!” alone has now passed two billion Spotify streams, a milestone that underlines how deeply the band’s early-2000s catalogue has travelled beyond its original era. The achievement placed System of a Down among a tiny group of heavy artists to reach that level on the platform.

The group have released only two new songs since 2005, but their live demand has never disappeared. Instead, every major announcement has become an event, with the scarcity of their touring schedule only intensifying the scale of each return.
