There are places we visit. And then there are places that refuse to let us forget. For me that place is Italy.

Italy has been calling me for a long time, before I knew what to do with its pull. Before I realised a city could shape a character’s entire life. Before I understood that I was part of the story too.

The Serpent book trilogy began as a question about truth and survival. But Italy kept insisting it was also a story about what we inherit, and what refuses to stay buried.

I recently wrote about this in my new blog, The Architecture of Secrets: Why we Keep Italy’s the Past Alive.

There’s a link in bio. Read it, if you like. Maybe you’ll recognise a place that keeps calling you back. And I’d love to know what that place might be. Comment below 😊

I’ve always believed that every one of us relies on three invisible keys.

A place that feels like belonging.
A person who reminds us who we are.
And a truth we’re still working up the courage to face.

For Francesca, the place is Italy, whether she admits it or not.
The person… well, that part’s complicated.
And the truth? Let’s just say she’s very skilled at pretending it’s none of her business.

How’s she doing so far?

If you had to name your three keys right now, the place, the person, and the truth, could you?

POV: your main character opens up about her life as part of the Serpent trilogy.

‘I don’t remember when I first realised that family history isn’t something you look back on — it’s something that pushes you forward.

Sometimes fate lifts you.
Sometimes fate corners you.

And sometimes it traces itself into the lining of your coat, and follows you across continents, waiting for the moment you finally read what’s been written for you.

I used to believe I could choose my own path. But, Italy taught me that destiny can be as stubborn as legacy.

There’s a letter I keep tucked away. I’m not ready to read it again.

But I know it’s the only reason I’m still searching. For the truth. For freedom. And for a way to change my destiny.

I’m Francesca Salucci. If you’re curious where my fate began, the Serpent trilogy link is found in the bio.’

Every time I return to Italy, I feel myself changing. I become bolder. Braver. More confident and definitely more curious about whatever waits on the other side of hesitation. And those doors.

Places shape us when we choose to step through. For me, it’s those unmarked doors and the enticement of the unknown stories behind them.

If you’re paused at your writing threshold moment right now, I may be able to help get you started.

My free guide, 33 Days of Writing is ready to go in my bio.

Together let’s keep stepping forward, one scene at a time.

I write in a breath work rhythm known as box breathing. Where all four elements of a breath are equal. That is, the inhale, hold, exhale, hold, are timed to the same count.

The process helps regulate the nervous system and focuses thought.

For me, creativity is a living thing; it breathes through us and within us.

As I write my books, this technique creates a gentle, cyclical rhythm that not only nurtures my creative writing, it stops overwhelm.

There are a number of programs and training available all over the web to escalate your creativity.

I’m here simply to help you take the first brave step towards writing, when everything seems a lot. In my bio and on my website, a number of digital guides are available, and their sole aim is to provide you with space to meet your own creative breath again.

And, they’re free! Now you can write and breathe along with me.

I can’t think of a more beautiful time to start, than today. I’ll see you there.

Have you ever noticed how some things appear on repeat?

In the Serpent book world, symbols pass between lovers and enemies, through generations and bloodlines like coded messages. A secret language only the heart can translate.

Those who pay attention will always find the answers hiding in plain sight.

Do you look for symbols in your every day? Feathers, letters, words, number sequences? Or perhaps something a little more subtle.

Share a symbol or recurring dream they’ve noticed in the comments.

😁 News Flash 🎊🗞️
Just when you thought you knew your characters, they whisper (read shout from the rooftops) they need more space.

Well that’s my experience with my leading lady Francesca Salucci. She’s outgrown her old story. And she’s ready to take on the world. Who am I to stop her, I say.

For lovers of secrets, destiny and the price of love. If you’ve been holding out on reading this deliciously enticing series, let freedom reign. Get stuck in. Binge. All you want without fear the series will never end. Because the series is done.

But I’m not. And neither is Francesca. Two new dramatic stand alone books are waiting in the wings. And they will not disappoint.

Bringing characters of the Serpent books into the digital realm. Thoughts?

Francesca Salucci - former detective, mother, wife, lover. She’ll do anything to keep a promise to bust open an international criminal enterprise. Even if it means betraying herself.

Captain Sinclair McCrae - army medic, father, husband. Will do anything to save Francesca from herself.

Fall in love with the Serpent world … where truth and morality are optional extras in a world of destiny, legacy and organised crime families.
