💙 The First Lot of T-Shirts are Here💙

The first lot of our community awareness T-shirts are now ready! 🎉

If you would like a T-shirt for your child, please send me a private message with:
• The description/design you would like
• with the size
Sizes can be found on the tags shown in the photos.

Please note: The T-shirts are Anko brand, and I have applied each print myself. These shirts have been created with the aim of helping families try a different strategy when supporting their neurodivergent children, while also helping to educate and create understanding within our community.

💙 Care instructions:
Please wash the T-shirts inside out to help protect the print and extend their lifespan. As the purpose of these shirts is to be worn out in the community to help promote understanding and awareness, hopefully they won’t require too much washing! 😊

💙 T-shirts are $10 each.

I’m not doing this to make a profit. My goal is simply to support families, share strategies that may help, and encourage understanding and acceptance of neurodivergent children within our community.

Every small step towards awareness can make a difference.

Today, Kye joined me while I volunteered at the local football, helping out on the gate.

Kye was his happy, energetic self—jumping, dancing, making his happy noises and simply being himself. 💙

The local football community knows Kye well and has become familiar with his personality and the way he expresses himself. Kye proudly wears his awareness shirt to help others better understand his disability and promote acceptance and inclusion within the community.

It is wonderful to see Kye feeling comfortable, supported and included while being able to enjoy the things that make him happy. 💙

💙 Sunday Story 💙

Who else dreads the back-to-school shopping rush? As parents, we all know how overwhelming a busy supermarket can be—let alone taking our neurodivergent children along with us.

I’m happy to report that today was a very successful shopping trip for Kye and i. The supermarket was incredibly busy, but Kye did an amazing job—and so did the community around us. 💙

He even managed to help at the checkout, which was such a proud moment for us both. 😊

Yes, I do use click and collect, but I’m sure I’m not the only parent who still ends up having to make that extra trip into the supermarket for the forgotten items! 😂

Today was a great reminder that with patience, understanding and support, these experiences can become more manageable and even enjoyable.

The T-Shirt Theory

I’ve had many people ask me, “How do you take Kye out in public?”

The honest answer was: I didn’t.

Going out in public was often overwhelming—not only for Kye, but for me as well. The judgement, stares, and comments from others made navigating new environments incredibly difficult and you can only explain your situation so many times before you give up.

Then I had an idea: what if Kye wore a T-shirt that simply helped make people aware of his invisible disability?

The aim was never to label Kye or change who he is. It was to help educate others about his behaviour while he was experiencing different environments, learning new things, and navigating the world around him.

I’ve had people say, “You shouldn’t have to do that.”

And I know. I shouldn’t have to.

However, the reality is that our community is still widely uneducated about autism and neurodivergence. The judgement, stares, and comments can be incredibly damaging—not only for autistic individuals, but also for their families and caregivers, who are learning and navigating this journey too.

So, now when people ask me, “How do you go taking Kye out in public?”

I simply say: “He wears his T-shirt.”

And what a difference it has made to our lives.

The purpose of the T-shirt was never to change Kye. It was to help change the way other people view, understand, and respond to children on the spectrum.

Sometimes, a little understanding can make a world of difference.

I will be selling cheap t.shirts to help other families in similar situations and spread awareness into our community 🔹Please note these t.shirts won’t be the answer to everything, but I’m hoping it might make outings that little bit easier for our neurodivergent children and carers while they navigate the world through their eyes.

Kye is a 7-year-old boy who is non-Verbal, autistic (ASD Level 3), and has a global developmental delay. However, Kye is so much more than his disabilities. He is caring, loving, funny, and full of personality. He enjoys dancing, riding his bike, setting up his figurines, school, his iPad, books and spending time with his family.

Our journey has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows as we navigate life following Kye’s diagnosis and learn what the future may look like for him and our family.

I created this page to share our journey with others, offering tips, experiences, and helpful information along the way. Most importantly, I hope to remind other families that they are not alone.

Through this page, I also hope to help raise awareness, promote understanding, and educate our community about autism and neurodivergence.

Because if you can be one thing, be kind. 💙💜💚💛❤️
