So far for 2026, the donations, have contributed to the purchase of a Stryker Stretcher, which will be utilised by the Maternity department of the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundations

Currently when sick neonates are transported to another facility for advanced medical care, the Atom cot (the incubator in which the neonate is transported) does not fit on the QAS stretcher. The cot is moved from one stretcher to another, creating manual handling strain on the midwives (the cot is quite heavy, approximately 40kgs), and wasting critical time getting the neonate to the medical care they desperately need. The Stryker Power PRO 2 directly addresses these risks by offering a stable, purpose designed transport platform and is compatible with QAS vehicles. The Cassowary Hub Maternity Service currently transfers a minimum of one unwell neonate per month, with transport frequently involving road transfer to Cairns and occasionally air transfer to Townsville. These infants and their families will directly benefit from safer, more controlled, and less stressful transfers.
