Last week, Resonant Films was proud to collaborate with David Cook in Cape York, filming with the Family Responsibilities Commission (FRC) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service (QLD) Ltd (ATSILS) on a joint project.
It was a privilege to be invited into the remote Aboriginal community of Aurukun, and to witness firsthand how organisations like the FRC and ATSILS are working together to make the justice process more culturally responsive and accessible.
At Resonant Films, we’re drawn to stories that highlight our shared humanity — stories that remind us we’re all more alike than we are different.
Grateful to everyone who welcomed us, shared their stories, and made this project possible — from Elders and Local Commissioners Doris Poonkamelya OAM, Dorothy Pootchemunka, Edgar Kerindun OAM, and Keri Tamwoy, to Local Registry Coordinators, ATSILS lawyers, the FRC team in community, Deputy Commissioner Rod Curtin, and everyone in between.
A special thank you to Spencer Browne, Compliance and Legal Policy Officer with the FRC, and Cara Marks, Local Registry Coordinator, for facilitating our access and shoot.
