This year was a focus on getting active again, after years of always putting FIFO work first and never taking time off to attend rugby league carnivals or season games.
Speaking from experience, grinding too much does take a toll on you mentally when you’re always chasing the paper. We were taught to always work hard to provide.
But one thing I’ve learned is that you need a balance. Balance to work hard but also play hard. Enjoy life, make memories with loved ones and friends.
And that’s why I love this great sport of Rugby League. It not only gives you an opportunity to blow steam on the field but it can also be used as a platform; a vehicle to discuss men’s mental health. Reconnect with families, friends, culture and heal you through your journey.
Unfortunately didn’t get to represent Masig Thurud Wap this year, due to work. But still managed to have the opportunity to play two seasons with Darwin Brothers in the NRLNT and winning back to back premierships, also battling with Kursau Kuik all the way into finals at the Breakaway IRL Carnival 2026.
Find your balance lads. You’ll learn that life is too precious and the little moments with your families matters the most.
Take care and Stay Blessed.
Yours truly,
SK KiidD
