Today, we wish the Divine Miss M - Bette Midler a very happy 80th birthday.

Since 1970, Midler has released 14 studio albums as a solo artist, selling over 30 million records worldwide.
She made her starring film debut with the musical drama The Rose (1979), which won her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, as well as nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She has since starred in many other movies including Down and Out in Beverly Hills, Outrageous Fortune, Big Business, Beaches, Stella, The First Wives Club, The Stepford Wives and Parental Guidance.

R.I.P Warren Williams
One of Australia's Rock & Roll pioneers, Warren Williams has passed away at the age of 85.

In 1957, Williams' solo career was launched when Johnny O'Keefe saw him perform. O'Keefe offered Warren an appearance on his television show "Six O'Clock Rock". His performance on the show made the young singer an instant success. Williams was soon offered a recording contract with Festival Records, and under the guidance of O'Keefe, recorded his first hit record. The self-penned "Where My Baby Goes" shot to the top of the charts in late October 1957.

Throughout the late 1950s and early '60s, Williams toured the country with some of the most prominent American recording stars of the period, including Little Richard, Fabian, and Jerry Lee Lewis. He appeared regularly at the Sydney Stadium and featured in a massive concert to 100,000 people at Sydney's Hyde Park.
During the 1960's he was a regular on national television shows including the iconic "Bandstand".

His sons, Andrew, Darren and Warren Jr have continued the legacy, becoming hugely successful performers in their own right.

The Seekers join the likes of The Bee Gees, Chrissy Amphlett from The Divinyls and AC/DC - they now have a street named in their honour!
The Seekers Way, in St Kilda was officially christened on Friday by the City of Port Phillip, in honour of the four-piece folk act that topped the charts and sold millions of records around the world in the 1960s.
Bruce Woodley, who spoke at the naming ceremony, said “I grew up less than a kilometre from where we’re standing now. What an honour it is to have this street named after us."
In a message relayed from Keith Potger, he said, “It comes 63 years almost to the day after Judith first joined Athol, Bruce and me to sing at The Treble Clef coffee lounge in South Yarra. That gathering 63 years ago was the beginning of a journey that took us to unimagined heights."
A well-deserved honour!

Reggae pioneer Jimmy Cliff has died at age 81.

Jimmy was known for his singles Wonderful World, Beauitiful People and Many Rivers To Cross, as well as for his cover of Cat Steven's Wild World and a 90s comeback with Johnny Nash's I Can See Clearly Now.

Jimmy’s wife, Latifa Chambers, announced his death in a statement on his Instagram page on Monday, reports the New York Post.
“It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” Chambers wrote.

R.I.P Jimmy.
