If you’ve ever ignored that little pop-up asking you to update your phone, reused an old password, or clicked a link that didn’t feel quite right, you’re not alone. Endometriosis - something every young woman should know about!

I used to think period pain was normal. That the stabbing cramps, the exhaustion that left me curled in bed, and the tears that came with every cycle were just part of being a woman. I was told to …

“The SafeHome program is about restoring a sense of safety and control for our most vulnerable groups. The program doesn’t just improve home security; it helps people feel safe again in their own homes, which is fundamental to wellbeing.” Marisa Paterson MLA

When we think of home, we think of safety. A place where we can lock the door, exhale, and know that what we treasure is protected. Yet for many Canberrans, the impact of property crime has shatter…

But I didn't know… 1 in 10 Canberrans lives in poverty.

I didn’t know that a full-time worker on minimum wage might have only $33 left each week after paying for rent, food, and transport.

We dived into ACTCOSS - ACT Council of Social Service Inc. Antipoverty Week Snapshot 2025 and learnt a lot!

I didn’t know that a full-time worker on minimum wage might have only $33 left each week after paying for rent, food, and transport. I didn’t know that poverty could look like a parent wo…

The room is full of that soft hum you only get when people feel safe enough to be honest. It is a local book launch, but it could be any Canberra gathering where stories are currency and community is the glue.

When Patricia Falcetta speaks, the hum settles. “There is no normal,” she says, not as a slogan but as a simple truth. Heads tilt. Shoulders drop. You can feel people breathe out.

Exploring Care, Education & Systems Awareness

There are few roles more important than caring for our babies and children. With early education and long daycare in the spotlight, it’s time to pause, listen, and reimagine.

This October in Canberra, practitioners from Ears of the Heart and the ANU School of Cybernetics invite the community to a two-day workshop that brings fresh thinking and deep listening to the challenges in care and education, from Early Years through to Tertiary.

Over three interactive sessions you’ll experience:
🔹 Warm Data Lab – Connecting to sector stories and what we’re noticing.
🔹 Ears of the Heart – Listening deeply with both mind and heart.
🔹 Leading Change – Designing the future with enriched collective knowledge.

On Wednesday evening (15 October), participants will also be invited to share in food, music, and conversation with Kankawa Nagarra – Goonyandi, Walmatjarri and Bunuba Elder, award-winning musical artist, and co-founder of Ears of the Heart.

📅 Event Details:
• Dates: Thursday 16 – Friday 17 October
• Location: ANU, Birch Building #35, Innovation Space, Level 2
• Hosts: Ears of the Heart practitioners with the ANU School of Cybernetics

This workshop is for those asking tough questions about what is happening in the sector, and who are ready to explore with care, curiosity, and courage. Together, we’ll hold the tensions, untangle knots, and open space for new ways forward.

There are few more important jobs than looking after our babies and children. We think it's time to stop, come together, and listen.
