Dear followers and readers, the Whitsunday News Newspaper will close this Sunday, August 31, 2025. It has been five years since we launched, on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 (see pic of editor Deborah Friend holding the first issue) and it has been a lot of fun! However, the media landscape has changed greatly, even in five years, and digital media does not align with what we set out to do, when we launched the printed paper. Thank you to everyone who has supported the newspaper over the past five years: The readers, advertisers, columnists, contributors and, of course, the hardworking team putting it together.
