As a stylist, there are a few boot styles I find consistently harder to style. Not because you can’t wear them, but because they can limit outfit options, throw proportions off balance and sometimes make getting dressed harder than it needs to be.

In this video, I’m breaking down a few of those styles and the reasons they can feel harder to style than other boot options.

As a personal stylist, one of the most common things I hear from clients and women is that they have a complicated relationship with jeans. White jeans especially. And honestly? I completely understand why.

For most women, the references we grew up seeing looked nothing like us. One body type, one certain standard to aspire to, one way to wear them. No room for anything in between. So we did what made sense , many of us avoided them altogether.

But here’s what I want you to know. That feeling has nothing to do with your body and everything to do with never being shown the full picture.

I know because I felt exactly the same way. It wasn’t until I really started understanding different cuts, silhouettes, proportions, how layering and styling can completely transform how something looks and feels on your body, that white jeans stopped being something I avoided and became something I actually reach for.

And that’s exactly what I want for you too. Because there isn’t just one version of white jeans and once you start seeing all the different cuts, silhouettes and ways to style them, they stop feeling intimidating and start feeling like options.

One thing I’ve learnt as a personal stylist is that versatility matters. When I’m looking for pieces to add to a client’s wardrobe (or my own), I’m always thinking about how many different ways they can be styled.
Can it work casually?
Can it work with denim?
Can it be dressed up a little?
That’s exactly what I wanted to demonstrate with this jacket from Target Australia

I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about hair tools in my life

My relationship with my hair has been a bit of a journey to say the least.

A bit of my backstory, I grew up in a small country town and also didn’t have my African side of family close to me. Mum used to braid my hair, we’d work things out as we went (and when I say we, her ha)we did the best with the information and products we had at the time. This was before social media, before YouTube tutorials etc and before you could jump online and find someone with similar hair to yours showing you what products to use or how to use them. Also, so much of that knowledge is often passed down through family and community and when you don’t have that proximity, there can be a lot of trial and error.

Even now, there are things I’m still learning about my own hair which if i’m being honest is only really starting now.

Which is why I was so excited when I discovered Dyson had released a multi styler specifically for textured, afro and coily hair. Because if I’m honest, products designed with textured hair in mind still feel like the exception rather than the norm.

One day I’d love to wear my natural texture more often, but right now, between a toddler, a business and life ATM, I’m always open to anything that might make the process a little easier while i’m on my journey to learning about how to care for my hair.

And to any brands reading this, whether it’s hair, beauty, fashion or beyond, people of colour aren’t an afterthought. We’re here, we have money to spend too, and we’d love to see ourselves reflected in the products being created

You know what they say, what goes around comes around. Fashion loves a good comeback, one bag that’s made a resurgence over the past few years is the East-West bag. Theres many interpretations of this style, I think it’s silhouette that makes it so interesting.

Same outfit formula. Different styling direction.

One of the biggest misconceptions when it comes to styling an outfit is thinking that an outfit formula only has one outcome.

The reality is, the same outfit formula can create completely different results depending on how you style it. A different silhouette, a layer of contrast, a change of shoe, or a tweak in proportion can completely shift the feel of an outfit etc

As the temperature drops, many of us are looking for those cosy outfits that transition from home to out and about. Loungewear is a great option for that. One question I always get asked from women what to look for and how to style loungewear options without looking like you’ve rolled out of bed.

When I’m wearing out loungewear, here are some of the key things that I look for 👇

✔️Fabric/composition, comfort is key
✔️Construction and silhouette The way a piece is constructed affects its fit and feel. I look for designs that elevate my style without compromising on comfort.
✔️Interesting Details, for example I love loungewear tops with easy pullovers/funnel necks with zips,buttons easy access etc
✔️Mix & Match Sets that can be worn as separates are a win for more looks for less
