As of 15 August 2025, it's a crime in NSW to incite hatred against someone because of their race. This includes colour, nationality, ethnicity, descent, or ethno-religious background.
Public acts done intentionally to encourage racial hatred, whether in person, online, or in public spaces, can result in fines or imprisonment.
You can still share your views, have discussions, and ask questions, as long as it doesn't encourage others to hate people based on race.
If you see or experience racial hatred, report it to NSW Police. In an emergency, call 000.
