RIP Rob Reiner. Paul McCartney says it best:
When The Levee Breaks

What a tragedy the death of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, is. It is so shocking in many ways but for me especially so, because over the last year I had been working with him. He directed me in 'Spinal Tap II: The End Continues'. He was such an upbeat, lovable man.

Life can be so unfair and this tragedy proves it. His father, Carl Reiner, was a great humourist before him and Rob followed in his dad’s footsteps doing a terrific job making many great films. I will always have fond memories of Rob and the idea that he and his wife will no longer be in the world with us is heartbreaking.

Thanks for all the humour, Rob. Rest in Peace. Love Paul

Music today has been Pink Floyd - A Saucerful Of Secrets (1968) made whilst Syd was sitting in that field contemplating the alien crops and marvelling at the approaching machinery. (See the blog for context). I was thoroughly enjoying the 12 minute title track and was wondering about how the Floyd found that unique spot between pop, psychedelia, classical, ambient, folk, rock and experimentation featuring lots of guitars and lots of keys, lots of drums, bass grooves and vocals both obscure and political and surreal, they were soft, hard, easy, difficult, loud, quiet, succinct, meandering, tuned into the zeitgeist, were fantastic musicians great vocals either calm or edgy and if you don’t like them at least leave them alone.
