✨️Not Enough Time✨️ - 22 August 1992

"I was lost for words in your arms, attempting to make sense of my aching heart, if I could just be everything and everyone to you, this life would just be so easy"

The words that we bet have melted a thousand hearts! 💖

Yes indeed, on this day in INXS history - 22 August 1992 - Not Enough Time enters the US Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 72 going on to steadily climb the charts to peak at a respectable number 28 by 10 October 1992.

In a departure from other territories where Heaven Sent was issued as the lead single from Welcome to Wherever You Are, in the US Atlantic Records decided instead to release Not Enough Time first capitalising on the track featuring as official music for the 1992 Olympics which were being held in Barcelona that summer.

A compilation album was released called "Barcelona Gold" to coincide with the 1992 Summer Olympics on which Not Enough Time features. 🥇

Australian singer Deni Hines appears as a backing vocalist on the song and went on to marry guitarist Kirk Pengilly a year later in 1993.🥂

The US maxi CD single includes the solo composition "Firma Terror" from bassist Gary Beers, another Kirk Pengilly titled "Light the Planet", and the fan favourite deepcut, "Deepest Red", an out-take from the X album.

"Su***de blonde was the color of her hair, like a cheap distraction for a new affair, she knew it would finish before it began"

Has there ever been a better lyric about hair?! 💆‍♀️💇‍♀️

Su***de Blonde was the lead single from ❌️ and the first new material from INXS since the release of Kick some three years earlier.

Released in the US on 22 August 1990, Su***de Blonde would peak at number 9 on the Billboard charts.

Elsewhere, Su***de Blonde reached number two in Australia, number one in Canada and number one in New Zealand.

Released in the UK on 3 September 1990, Su***de Blonde would peak at number 11 on the UK charts - their joint second best single charting position behind the reissue of Need You Tonight ( #2) and The Gift ( #11).

Asked specifically if Su***de Blonde was a direct reference to Kylie, Michael would tell the UK Melody Maker music magazine:

"Nah!" Michael laughs. "It's a fictitious song built around this hair colour actually. In the Forties and Fifties, women used to dye their hair at home in the sink and they called it, 'Dyed by their own hands', so the colour was called Su***de Blonde. I just liked that imagery. I guess we can get deeper on it. I suppose it's to do with society's projections on how people look. Y'know, how this fictitious woman is using it to get what she wants and, at the same time, it's using her. Y'know, the victim."

Kylie on the other hand had a slightly different take when she said in a 2014 interview with Adelaide Now: "The girl who did the hair and wigs in The Delinquents made me familiar with the term 'su***de blonde.'" The new look certainly turned heads when Minogue debuted it alongside Hutchence at the film's Australian premiere.

The recording of Su***de Blonde includes a distinctive Charlie Musselwhite sample and when asked about Su***de Blonde he would say:

"I recorded three tunes with INXS. One tune was sampled and played through a keyboard by Andrew Ferriss. Nice guy. I was in Sydney on tour in Australia. Henri took a call in the hotel room. Who is this? INXS? I’d never heard of them. They asked me to come down to their recording session. They were real nice guys. No egos or anything."

New Michael Hutchence Solo Tracks

We at AAA are exited at the prospect of hearing for the first time a batch of new Michael Hutchence solo tracks later this year.

Michael was in the midst of recording new solo songs with legendary music producer Danny Saber when he passed away. These unfinished demos have been completed by Saber for this special release.

Danny: "I can’t wait to unveil these final songs in all their full glory to the constellation of dedicated fans who’ve kept Michael’s spirit alive all these years. To paraphrase a great man: 'This is not the beginning of the end… It's the end of the beginning.'"

Scheduled for release on 28 November, there are four tracks previously unreleased* alongside three which have previously been made available on limited edition CD/Vinyl (One-Way and Save My Life) or as a digital download (Friction)

✨🎉 Wishing a very Happy Birthday to Rhett Hutchence , Michael Hutchence’s brother 🎉✨

Rhett and Michael were very close when they were younger but they were very different. Michael was shy, quiet and thoughtful and let’s say Rhett was the opposite, bless him.

Now based in Bali, he channels that energy into his business Skull Bali, where he designs and creates incredible skull sculptures that have captured the imagination of collectors and fans all over the world. 💀🎨

Much like his late brother Michael, Rhett embodies creativity, passion, and a true sense of uniqueness. Today we celebrate not only his birthday, but also his artistry and spirit.
