I don't run the Belly Fat Challenge to talk about weight loss. I run it to stop women from blaming themselves for something that was never their fault.

Because that's what I see every time.
Women who are smart, disciplined, and completely convinced that they are the problem.

They've tried harder. They've cut more. They've pushed through exhaustion to get to the gym. And the belly has kept growing, slowly, persistently, despite everything.

The moment they understand the hormonal picture, that this is oestrogen, cortisol,

I had been cutting calories for 18 months. Yet her belly kept getting bigger.

I was doing everything I'd always been told to do.
Eating less.
Walking every day.
Trying harder.
But every month, my clothes felt tighter around my middle.
