The final PR: 3/3 ✅

+10kg PR

I didn’t get 120kg after 2 weeks of attempts, but 115kg will do for now. 👍

I gave it my all, and that’s what counts. I’m not mad I didn’t get 120kg because I left it all on the floor, and I’m just not there yet. 🤷🏻‍♂️

A quick few weeks’ break from powerlifting to do some more bodybuilding-style workouts, and I’ll be back at it again. 💪

+20kg Squat PR ✅

The nerves were strong, but I was able to overcome them. 💪

Squat was consistent throughout my training, and at times felt better than my deadlift. After a year off from heavy lifting, I’m very happy with the result. ✊

You don’t need barbell squats to build juicy legs.

The truth is, barbell squats are a fantastic exercise. They’re one of my personal favourites and they’re great for developing squat strength.

But if your goal is simply to build bigger legs, they aren’t mandatory.

A 2023 meta-analysis found no significant difference in muscle growth between free weights and machines. Participants tended to get strongest in the type of exercise they trained.

That’s why exercises like leg press, lunges, hack squats, and leg extensions can all be effective tools for building muscle.

The best exercise is often the one you can perform safely, consistently, and progressively over time.

What’s your take? 👇
