Pluto Pup or Dagwood Dog? 🌭
Same snack, different names — and honestly, it’s a bit of an Aussie identity crisis 😅
Growing up in NSW, it was always a Pluto Pup for us. But ask someone from Victoria or SA, and they’ll likely call it a Dagwood Dog — both names for that golden, deep-fried hot dog on a stick we all love at the show.
📜 The name Dagwood Dog comes from Dagwood Bumstead, a comic strip character from the 1930s known for his love of over-the-top sandwiches.
🐶 Pluto Pup likely caught on in NSW and QLD thanks to its fun, cartoon-style branding — maybe even inspired by Disney’s Pluto (though not officially confirmed).
Whatever the history, one thing’s for sure — it’s not a Darwin Show without one 🔥
Happy show weekend
