Baseball NT Flying the Flag on the World Stage 🌏⚾

Over the past week, Baseball Northern Territory was proudly represented at the WBSC U15 Oceania Championships in Guam (28 Nov – 1 Dec), with two of our own playing major roles in an event that delivered big results for Australian baseball.

🟠 Participation & Pathways Manager – Kai Meuronen
Kai took on the role of Pitching Coach for Team Australia, helping lead an outstanding campaign that saw the Aussies finish undefeated with a perfect 6–0 record. With convincing wins over Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, the squad not only dominated the tournament; they also punched their ticket to the 2026 U15 World Cup in Italy.

⚫️ BNT Chair – Narelle Gosstray
Narelle represented Baseball NT and Australia on the administrative stage as Tournament Director on behalf of the WBSC, leading the delivery of the championships from behind the scenes. From logistics to operations, Narelle ensured the event met international standards and ran smoothly for all nations involved.

We could not be prouder of the way Kai and Narelle represented our organisation and the Territory on the global stage.🤘

These two teams have poured absolutely everything into this season. Both South Darwin Rugby Union Club and the Swampdogs Rugby Union Club have been rebuilding their women’s programs this year — and every week they show us exactly what the heart of rugby is all about.

From determination to teamwork, from growth to grit, these women continue to inspire the entire rugby community.

Arrr, it were a grand day for rugby on the high seas! The University crew set sail with strong winds at their backs, chartin’ a fast and furious course across the pitch.

But the Palmerston lads — tough as barnacled hulls and twice as stubborn — stood their ground with true pirate spirit. They fought with courage, skill, and plenty of heart, earnin’ their points through grit and determination. Though the tides favoured Uni on this voyage, Palmerston never once struck their colours.

Final Tallies: University 64 – Palmerston 13

A fine display o’ sportsmanship from both crews. Raise a tankard to all the brave ruggers who took the field!

It was a warm Top End afternoon of rugby as the Darwin Dragons Rugby Union Club steadied themselves after last week and put together a solid, consistent performance. They kept their structure, took their chances when they came, and worked their way over the line throughout the match.

The Casuarina Cougars Rugby Union Club, backed by their rising second-generation talent, showed plenty of promise. These young players are carving out their place in the squad and giving the club and its supporters a glimpse of an exciting future ahead.

Final Score: Darwin Dragons 62 – Casuarina Cougars 7
