Forged handled boards for Northey Street Organic Farmers Market tomorrow. Chose out highly figured (that's fancy talk for pretty grain) pieces for these, and while we urge people never to impulse buy, if you've beem waiting for a standout piece, tmrw is the time.

Our second Abbey year has concluded, and boy are we ker-knackered! It was super sweet to have patrons return with stories of the adventures of wares they'd bought last year, not to mention all the sincere comments and support shown by more folks than we can list! We also sold 30% or more than last year - during a tough time for creatives - so thank you all :>

The effort put into costumes was astounding (and inspiring), the conversations engaging, and the characters interesting and diverse; many moments will stay with us for years to come. I'm scribbling some down as cartoons, just because you can't make some of these shenanigans up!

And to top off the exhausting-but-highly-fulfilling weekend, we stumbled across a recent fox roadkill on our way home! Cue weird Huzzah! We've received such high interest in our taxidermy and kooky-cursed-stuff, that we're off to use some of our spoils of war to source another dedicated freezer.

We could write about this weekend forever, but instead I'll finish off with a fox toon (the scene was a wee bit gruesome for pics). More toons to come!

Busy buffing and packing our craftlings for Abbey Medieval Festival ! Wood turning, platters, boards, walking sticks, utensils, mashers, painted plaques, forged handles, and that's not including all the leatherwork and stuff we couldn't fit in a quick video.

It's...a lot :>

See you folks in your merriest garb this week's end; come find us by the delicious Pizza Peoples*, near the reenactment camp. *the pizza, not the ppl ;)

in case anyone still trusted buying anything online. Umm...don't?

I used to tell ppl to look at the artist's account, check their work in progress pics, etc. But with deepfake ai preying on the public's sympathy (among other things...), and becoming increasingly convincing, better to get out to your local live gig, festival, etc., and pay the artist directly.

haha good time to be an artisan at festivals and markets, eh?

We made a trophy! Well, more a plaque.
A plophy?

Damian wanted to add taxidermied claws, but we decided not to because dead things creep some people out. Unless it's a meal, then it's fine. We are a silly species.

Aaaanyway, more pics in comments.

Creating an authentic and immersive medieval experience for our community is at the heart of everything we do, and our incredible stallholders play a vital role in bringing the village of Abbeystowe to life.

To recognise their dedication, we invite our visitors to vote for their favourite stall in our public People's Choice survey. Alongside your votes, our judging panel assesses each stall on customer service, commitment to authenticity, presentation and a range of other criteria.

The winning stalls will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on Sunday.

This year, our award trophies have been lovingly handcrafted by Red Gargoyle, Little Castle Artisans & Stone Cat Ceramics (Viking Claysmith)

The voting link will be displayed in the program on the weekend and around the Festival site.

Forging hardware from Caboolture offcuts for our wares at Northey Street Organic Farmers Market and the upcoming Abbey Medieval Festival . I didn't burn my belly button this time, and I think we can all agree that counts as Progress.

Freeform boards soaking in another coat of beeswax overnight, along with a peek at some of the new plaques we're making. There's also some taxidermy in process, but more on that later ;)

Having obtained a new-to-us thicknesser, we're finally able to make boards out of fallen trees we've stored, so there'll be paperbark, red mahogany, and bloodwood, along with thicker and well-figured camphor boards. And for those waiting on moated plate boards, we...well, have some. Yep.
