Release Information

FAIRTRADE NARCOTICS is a genre bending jazz-rock band from Naarm / Melbourne, Australia.

Led by bandleader and core songwriter Brooke Kymberley (vocals, trumpet, guitar) the project has built a steady reputation as a recurring live act in the Naarm/Melbourne circuit over the past 6 years, and continues to grow a multifaceted, eclectic discography with the arrival of their first self-titled album.

Comprising 9 tracks featuring singles Jojoba and Cerulean, the FAIRTRADE NARCOTICS LP was entirely self-recorded, produced and independently released through their studio label Groovecult Records.

Since recruiting George Inglis (production, lead guitar) Luca Soprano (drums, percussion) and Dermot O’Brien (trombone) the group have supported bands S*x on Toast, The Empty Threats and performed at Melbourne venues The Espy, The Night Cat, and The Curtin to name a few.

The feature album will be "Toby Wren Standards Trio, Live at JMI". Its due to be released on 24 July 2025 by 4000 Records. This is #018 in their very successful "Jazz in Meanjin" series of releases. All of which are available on Bandcamp.

Release Information
Known for their artistry and dynamic interplay, the Toby Wren Standards Trio presents fresh interpretations of jazz standards, blending tradition with inventive flair. Expect sophisticated improvisation, deep musical connection, and a performance that breathes new life into classic repertoire.

Toby Wren has been an improvising guitarist and prolific composer in the Australian jazz scene since 2000. For this performance he is joined by Andrew Shaw, who seamlessly integrates knowledge of carpentry in the construction of his relentlessly driving double bass playing, and Aaron Jansz, known for his scathing product reviews and because he can run further than anyone, on this occasion wringing the nastiest swing grooves out of a drum kit this side of the river.

Release Information
Recorded live at the Boom! International Festival of Percussion at the Seymour Centre, Sydney. The Live@Boom! album captures the Polymorphic Orkestra in full flight with guest artist and Saxello master Robert Vincs from melbourne. The band said "This is our sixth album, and although each one is special to us and offers a different journey for us and the listener, we feel this Live@Boom! album, really captures the essence of the Polymorphic Orkestra".
