I parked my car in an outdoor lot. I forgot to roll up my window, because my mind, as always, must’ve been on other things. I came back a long time later — many, many, many days later. Look what a perfect stranger had done for me, in my absence. Look at the beautiful poem of love that is this note: “Your window was down and the rain was coming. I did my best to help you out. xx — The green truck next to you.” By the time I saw this note, the green truck was long gone. I will never know who did this for me. But I love you. Thank you for taking the time to do this kind act for a stranger. I’m sitting here in my parked car, unable to drive because there are tears in my eyes. I am reminded once more of this sacred truth: Never doubt that thousands of invisible hands are helping you at all times. Love is everywhere, even if you can’t see it. The tenderest care will arrive when you least expect it, and from someone whose name you may never know. Thank you, Green Truck. Thank you.

Nat King Cole was an enormously popular crooner, earning $4,500 a week in Las Vegas in 1956. He headlined at the whites-only Thunderbird Hotel, where he wasn't allowed to venture beyond the showroom and the cook's resting area behind the kitchen. Cole's road manager was given a room in the hotel because he was white, but the high-paid feature attraction had to find other accommodations. He regularly stayed in a rooming house on the West Side.

Frank Sinatra was a great fan of Cole's. While performing at the Sands, Sinatra noticed that Cole almost always ate his dinner alone in his dressing room. Sinatra asked his valet, a black man named George, to find out why. George explained the facts to Frank. "Coloreds aren't allowed in the dining room at the Sands."

Sinatra was enraged. He told the maitre d' and the waitresses that if it ever happened again, he'd see that everyone was fired.
The next night, Sinatra invited Cole to dinner, making his guest the first black man to sit down and eat in the the Garden Room at the Sands.

Had an old dresser for the last 17 years, given from a friend. Had intended to refinish it but after started to strip it I noticed a musty 7Up smell. Tried everything to get rid of it, couldn’t, and got discouraged and it sat. Finally decided to do something different. Painted it and put partitions in the drawers and created a planter. The rubber mat had the original paint wear off so I repainted it with acrylic craft paint.
Kinda loving it.

"I'm old, but my heart is young. We always have the same age in our souls. I know it's the perfect age, every year is special and precious, and we can live in each one. Don't regret getting old, it's a privilege which not everyone has." Richard Gere

In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author and ask for advice. Kurt Vonnegut was the only one to respond - and his response is magnificent:

“Dear Xavier High School, and Ms. Lockwood, and Messrs Perin, McFeely, Batten, Maurer and Congiusta:

I thank you for your friendly letters. You sure know how to cheer up a really old geezer (84) in his sunset years. I don’t make public appearances any more because I now resemble nothing so much as an iguana.

What I had to say to you, moreover, would not take long, to wit: Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside you, to make your soul grow.

Seriously! I mean starting right now, do art and do it for the rest of your lives. Draw a funny or nice picture of Ms. Lockwood, and give it to her. Dance home after school, and sing in the shower and on and on. Make a face in your mashed potatoes. Pretend you’re Count Dracula.

Here’s an assignment for tonight, and I hope Ms. Lockwood will flunk you if you don’t do it: Write a six line poem, about anything, but rhymed. No fair tennis without a net. Make it as good as you possibly can. But don’t tell anybody what you’re doing. Don’t show it or recite it to anybody, not even your girlfriend or parents or whatever, or Ms. Lockwood. OK?

Tear it up into teeny-weeny pieces, and discard them into widely separated trash receptacals. You will find that you have already been gloriously rewarded for your poem. You have experienced becoming, learned a lot more about what’s inside you, and you have made your soul grow.
God bless you all!" ~Kurt Vonnegut

Actor Richard Gere took part in a social experiment by disguising himself as a homeless person, and it turned out to be a profound experience. He shared, "I dressed up as a homeless person, and no one noticed. People walked past me, looking at me with disgust.

Only one kind lady offered me food. The experience was truly eye-opening.

We often forget to appreciate what we have and how fortunate we are. If we can help someone, we should do it without hesitation. That’s why I wanted to do this experiment.

Afterward, I drove around town, handing out food and giving $100 to every homeless person I met. Their tears of gratitude were overwhelming.

Be the change you want to see today."

Batteries🔋 do not create electricity ⚡ but they store electricity produced elsewhere, especially through coal, uranium, natural power plants or diesel generators.

So the claim that an electric 🚗 is a zero-emission vehicle is not true at all, because the electricity produced comes from power plants and many of them burn coal or gas.

So 40% today ? some of electric cars on the road are carbon-based.

But that's not everything.

Those who are enthusiastic about electric cars and the green revolution should take a closer look at batteries, but also wind turbines and solar panels.

A typical electric car battery weighs 450 kg, about as big as a suitcase. It contains 11 kg of lithium, 27 kg of nickel, 20 kg of manganese, 14 kg of cobalt, 90 kg of copper and 180 kg of aluminum, steel and plastic. There are more than 6,000 individual lithium-ion cells inside.

To make each BEV battery, you will need to process 11,000 kg of salt for lithium, 15,000 kg of cobalt mineral, 2.270 kg of resin for nickel and 11,000 kg of copper mineral.

In total, you have to extract 225,000 kilograms of soil for one battery.

The biggest problem with solar systems is the chemicals used to convert silicate into the gravel used for the panels.

To produce sufficient clean silicon, it must be treated with chloride, sulfuric acid, fluoride, trichloroethane and acetone.

In addition, gallium, arsenide, copper-indian-galium diselenuride and cadmium telluride are necessary, which are also highly toxic.

Silicone dust is a hazard to workers and tiles cannot be recycled.

Wind turbines are not plus-ultra in terms of cost and environmental destruction.

Each windmill weighs 1,688 tons (equivalent to the weight of 23 houses) and contains 1300 tons of concrete, 295 tons of steel, 48 tons of iron, 24 tons of fiberglass and rare lands that are hard-to-get Neodymium, Praseodymium and Dyprosium.

Each of the three shovels weighs 40,000 kg and has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, after which they must be replaced. We cannot recycle used rotor blades.

Certainly these technologies can have their place, but we need to look beyond the myth of freedom of emission. Going Green may seem like a utopian ideal, but if you look at the hidden and embedded costs in a realistic and impartial way, you’ll find that “Going Green” is doing more damage to the Earth’s environment today than it seems.

Discovered in 1974 by a farmer in Xi'an, China, the Terracotta Army is approximately 2,200 years old and consists of more than 8,000 clay soldiers, each sporting unique facial features and standing between 6 and 6.4 feet tall. The site additionally features 520 horses, 130 chariots, and 150 cavalry horses. These sculptures were created to safeguard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, highlighting his pursuit of immortality and beliefs about the afterlife. Sophisticated techniques enabled artisans to produce these figures on a large scale while still personalizing each one, with many maintaining remnants of their original vibrant paint.
