On today’s show, I’m joined by Laura, a German-born mother who shares two very different birth experiences that resulted in three babies. Laura entered her first pregnancy with the goal of having an unmedicated, natural birth. But after her waters released she was put on the clock, and a long, difficult hospital experience ultimately ended in a caesarean.
When she fell pregnant again, Laura was clear on the kind of care she wanted this time around, seeking out an obstetrician who aligned with her birth choices and supported VBAC. Then, at her first scan, came the shock that she wasn’t carrying one baby, but identical twins.
Suddenly, the VBAC she had hoped for felt like a much bigger mountain to climb. But with a skilled obstetrician who supported her twin VBAC, and a birth team she deeply trusted, Laura continued forward with confidence in herself and her babies. At 38 weeks and three days, she went on to birth her boys in the water, just 21 minutes apart, with her second baby born en caul 🕊️
