I watched a video on self-awareness that really stayed with me. The humanness and authenticity of the person sharing it felt deeply real.
It spoke about how we often show our best selves to strangersβour tone softer, our patience longer. We smile, we make time, we ask questions, we listen and respond with care.
Yet with the people closest to us, we arrive tired. Our time is shorter, our patience thinner, our tone sharperβnot because we love them less, but because the relationship feels secure enough to hold our exhaustion.
Iβve been aware of this in myself for years now, and Iβm still working on it.
Thank you for the honesty that reminded me Iβm not aloneβand for validating that many of us grew up in a culture where this imbalance quietly became normal.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. I forgive the village that raised meβand I choose to grow with more awareness, intention, and love.
This is my only New Year intention for 2026: to show up better for the people I love most.
The only people truly worth impressing are the ones we go home to.
I forgive myself. And I choose to do better π€
