Happy 15th Birthday to our Savannah! She's as free spirited and adventurous as ever. Each new day brings a new desire for experiences that usually invole travel and WNBA.! We've no chance for a quieter life. Thank goodness!!

Can't wait to see where the 15 takes us. Here's what the last few months looked like from Charleston to California and New York and two Dallas Wings WNBA game.

She's now investigating ways she can have a career in the WNBA (that does not involve playing basketball!!)

Today she pursues her other hobby - buying new books to read!!

🎸 If my life had a soundtrack, it would be Jack Johnson.

Raised in a surfie culture, chasing adventures around the world, falling in love with its beauty and its people along the way. His music has been there for all of it.

So seeing him in Raleigh for the fourth time was pure joy. This round Savannah came too. She's just as big a fan, so we made it her birthday. Her, a friend, and us at a Jack show.

Two hours. All the hits, plus requests, and the stories behind the songs, in that chilled way only he has. He is so relatable and likeable.

Then he brought up a local guy, Cade, who makes reels of "how Jack Johnson would sing this song." Jack had him come up and sing one on stage with him. What a thrill for Cade. π‘Šπ‘Žπ‘˜π‘’ π‘‡β„Žπ‘’ π‘†β„Žπ‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘’

That's Jack though. Love, friendship, homegrown talent, and Mother Earth. His concerts even have rules. Recyclables only.

And the crowd was full of young people. He speaks to every generation. Coolest guy on the planet. Jack Johnson

Enjoy a few tunes from Jack live in Raleigh!!

I was at the base of the via ferrata on Mount Triglav, the steep cabled stretch that gets you to the summit. I could have done it. I've done harder things. But I'd reached the edge of what I had in me that day, and I knew pushing on would cost me my peace and slow the whole group down.

So, I said no, in front of everyone, and went and ate a bowl of cabbage soup while some of the others climbed

The easy walk to our sleeping hut turned into a 3-hour scramble across rock that none of us had signed up for. Iron rungs, cliff faces, and more fear than I'd planned on. And it became the best part of the whole trip. The detour I didn't choose taught me more than the summit ever could have.

I've written the whole thing up. Why I turned back and didn't regret it, the simple test I now use to know when a "no" is the right one, and the women I met halfway up a mountain who I'll carry for life. https://www.ytravelblog.com/mt-triglav-hike-slovenia/

If you've ever wondered whether turning back counts as quitting, I think this one will land. And if a trip like this has been sitting in the back of your mind, reply here. I'm leading a few next year and I'll tell you straight which one suits you.

Okay, I'm doing the thing. In October I'm leading a women's adventure to Morocco with Your Limitless Adventures, and I want some of you with me.

I went to Slovenia with YLA this summer as a participant, and I got to feel from the inside what these trips are built to do. The connection. The stillness. The space to actually feel where you are instead of racing to the next photo.

Now picture that in Morocco. The souks of Marrakech. Sunrise hot air balloons. Camels into the Sahara at sunset. Kasbahs that have stood in for movie sets. Campfires under a sky packed with stars. Lunch in a Berber tent with a local family. Cooking classes in Fez.

Oct 18 to 28, 2026. Everything included: 4-star riads and luxury desert glamping, all meals, private local guides, every excursion, the mindfulness moments, and a gallery of professional photos to bring home.

$3,200 per person, or $2,700 with code MOROCCO500.

We're filling the last few spots and registration closes August 31. If you've been waiting for a sign to do something big for yourself this year, maybe this is it.

Explore the trip and say YES here https://www.macs-explore.com/morocco

🍷 Two hours from Ljubljana, in the far west of Slovenia, there's a w**e region that looks a lot like Tuscany.

Hilltop stone villages, vineyards to the horizon, and glasses of local Rebula for about €4. They barely export Slovenian w**e, so the only way to drink it is to stand in the vineyard it came from. πŸ‡

πŸ“ GoriΕ‘ka Brda. Save this for your next Europe trip.

GoriΕ‘ka Brda. Far west of Slovenia, right on the Italian border. Hilltop stone villages and vineyards in every direction. Quiet, peaceful, all locally owned and operated.

Rebula is the local white, often made with skin contact so it pours a soft orange. Teran is the local red. About €4 a glass (where i found it). Barely exported, so you can only drink it here.

E-bike through the vineyards on a guided tour with lunch at a biodynamic w**ery! Hilly, beautiful, about 17 miles of it if you want the full ride.

Four-course dinners at a table over the valley. Family-cooked breakfasts. Scrambled eggs and prosciutto you'll think about for weeks.

Italy is 15 minutes away. Yes, people cross the border for gelato. You will too. You're not crazy!

Under 2 hours from Ljubljana. Give it at least 3 days. Go May to October. You'll want a car. Stay at a family owned B & B.

We based ourselves at Lake Bled in Slovenia, like almost everyone does. But the lake I'd actually send you to is 30 minutes further west.

Lake Bohinj sits inside Triglav National Park, the mountains come right down to the water on three sides, and it was not very busy.

We rented stand up paddleboards from a company that delivers them anywhere around the lake, paddled into a bay where the surface went completely flat, and I led the group through an "I am" meditation out there on the water. It was bliss!

At the far end of the lake is Savica Waterfall, 550 steps up through the trees. The river runs underground and comes straight out of the middle of the mountain wall, splits into two streams that fall in an A shape, and lands in a pool so clear you can see the sand on the bottom. Every one of us wanted to swim in it but the fence said no.

The sign at the top says the falls are high in negative ions. That made me laugh because the day before I'd had the whole group standing barefoot on the grass to soak up the earth's negative ions and shake off the jet lag.

I've written up the whole thing. Where to rent boards, where to eat, the Vogel cable car I'd go back for, and a straight answer on Bled or Bohinj if you only have time for one. https://www.ytravelblog.com/lake-bohinj-slovenia/
