The rush of April was fierce, so the calmer pace of May is really allowing us to relax into rhythm. Gentle reminders of motivation that reaffirm it is ok to take in breath, enjoy the winds of change, and allow expectation to fall away so life may lay down its pieces of authenticity in peace.

What is Dark Roast Videography * omg thanks for asking 🙈 * Dark Roast Video is a Bo***ir Videography Company, focused on celebrating each person for who they are-just as they are & proudly supporting Black Lives, AAPI, Indigenous Peoples, any POC persons & our LGBTQIA+ Community. Saying we are a ‘Bo***ir’ company unfortunately is the only way we can describe ourselves with what our services are BUT DRV offers services for cis or presenting women, men, non-binary persons, and couples (or throuples) of all kinds ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎

Officially established in 2020 🥴great timing right😩 with a combined almost 10 yrs of experience between us, Dark Roast was our way of living more authentically. Wait wait - who is ‘we’? 🕺🏽James and 💃🏻Shey, Nice to Meet you 🤗 We are happily married 💩to each other 💩 but before we united we both were artists in our own right. James, an actor and stunt performer/coordinator turned Videographer & Shey, an actor,dancer, (burlesque) performer & model once upon a time time, joined forces in 2015 & have been tag teaming life ever since. We met in L.A., California, we have a cat Grayson who acts like a dog and is proud to be our Supervisor. Of course there’s more (on our website) but lets skip to the good part shall we?

Being two people with such unique histories and each with degrees in Film we wanted to stay close to our love of story telling. So with our subtle not so subtle appreciation for coffee, & a s**t ton of elbow grease, DRV was born! 🤠Admittedly, both of us also have professional wedding industry experience so originally it began as a general/wedding-focused video business but we quickly re-assessed. Yes, 😪 the pandemi-lovato was a motivating factor but also just the honest confrontation of ‘is this really us’.

So far we have had an interesting go of things but officially one year in, 2021 we are 100% committed to Bo***ir & are so excited !!! So much learning creating and exploration has happened and very much lies ahead.

Since our re-focus we have begun the 🌞Bo***ir services, but have an upcoming 🌚 Doudoir and ✨Savoir(couples) shoot and are sooo antsy to have our first 🌈Drageoir(that’s our fluid services or dual presenting) shoot and really be the first of our kind in providing video that embraces body positivity and self love for all people of all kinds in any shape or size.

If you didn’t see our last post, we are moving to Australia within the next year but currently we are in Wichita, KS so whether you’d like to schedule a shoot, ask us questions, or just have a chat - don’t be afraid to reach out. We are here for ya’ll and look forward to continuing with your support.

‼️ANNOUNCEMENT‼️

If you saw our story a million years ago it seems now that we had an announcement coming soon- apologies that this was not posted soon after as planned. & for those of you who are seeing this for the first time - welcome to the Announcement!

This may be neutral news but felt it best to officially share :

Dark Roast will be relocating to Australia!

Our timeline is a bit in the air unfortunately. - it could take effect as soon as the next month or not until October. The lack of flight availability due to the severity of COVID here in the US is causing the ongoing limitation or just pure non availability in flights. So once we know, you’ll know, but until then, now ya know. 😅

DRV will still be available for bookings and shoots but don’t hesitate to reach out now since that could change week by week.
