PRODUCT TEST – Shower Power by OzKleen
TESTED ON – Heavy soap scum & hard water stains
USUALLY USE - Jif
Just to give you some insight –
As a bond cleaner for 15 years, I have tested a lot of products.
The products that get the best results, on extreme cleans, have a special place in my cleaning kit and also made it into The Bond Clean Book.
Unfortunately, most of the products that worked for heavy duty bond cleans have not been enviro friendly. But, for some reason, I never tried OzKleen.
Whilst it is common to overlook products on the supermarket shelf, I really have no excuses for not testing OzKleen in the past.
Why? I live around the corner from their manufacturing plant in the Gold Coast (Qld).
I have literally been driving past them every day, for years!
So, a couple of months ago, I decided to give OzKleen a shot and grabbed a few different products – including Shower Power.
Back to the Test –
A heavy duty shower clean, that has loads of soap scum and hard water stains, is a key area that takes time and can hurt!
I’m very picky and always strive for a perfect finish. Jif has always been my go to product for thick soap scum because it works. But I do prefer to use enviro friendly products – if they work.
SO, HOW DID SHOWER POWER GO?
In the video I used the new Sq**rt Bottle version of Shower Power.
It is more commonly found at the supermarket in a Spray Bottle.
There is also a Gel version in a Sq**rt Bottle (which I highly recommend for cleaners because it sticks to surfaces).
I am sure it is no surprise to those who have used Shower Power before, but this product really packs a punch.
There is a reason Shower Power has a cult following.
As you can see in the vid, there was plenty of scrubbing.
But this was to reduce hard water stains (I need to do this with Jif too).
It was easier on the elbow though.
The slippery consistency of Shower Power reduces friction and definitely makes scrubbing easier.
However, for soap scum, it knocks Jif out of the water. Why?
Shower Power appeared to dissolve soap scum (as shown in the spot test half way through the video).
If it there were no hard water stains, this shower would have taken half the time and a lot less scrubbing.
Check out the Before and After photos at the end of the video. The results were awesome.
THE VERDICT:
Shower Power definitely deserves a spot in your cleaning kit (if you are a cleaner) or under the sink at home. And, it is an excellent enviro friendly substitute for heavy duty shower / bathroom cleaning in The Bond Clean Book.
Other Benefits -
When I find something that works, I wonder what else it can do.
And this is where Shower Power has thrown out a few surprises.
Here are some of the added bonuses I have found so far using Shower Power in residential and commercial bond cleans:
- It is antibacterial, so it kills the germs.
- Soap scum in baths comes off effortlessly.
- Works a treat for heavy duty toilet cleans, replacing bleach for me.
- It does a great job on heavy duty kitchen or laundry sink cleans - reducing water staining and cutting through heavy brown staining on the drains and stainless steel plugs.
- It removes sticker residue too. Better than turps and much safer to use on painted surfaces, like a door.
No doubt I will continue to find more uses for Shower Power.
Maybe you will too.
It has proven to be an unusually powerful enviro friendly product.
And the fact that it is Aussie made and owned, well that’s just icing on the cake.
Good luck with your cleaning.
*** I have not been paid for this. OzKleen did supply a few products for me to test. Given the success I have had so far with Shower Power, I am expecting the other products to work. But whether they work as well as other products I use in The Bond Clean Book, well – I’ve got some testing to do.
