Never seen so many around us.

Nothing Vela couldn't handle but in the passage insane whirlpools & waves, then met with FAT 2- 2.5m waves on the beam that we were absolutely dropping into & up to 30knot gusts. It was abhorrent until we ran behind the protection of the Lindeman group. We were going to run to Scawfell tomorrow & have a few days rest waiting for the weather window, however the seas are going to subside a bit so we may stay here tomorrow.
We may even have our fourth beach trip for the year 😞😱
(Yes. It has been THAT bad: Whitehaven beach, Horseshoe bay, Dunk island.)

Two days resting at Upstart. The first to fix everything we broke (including ourselves), the second to get ready to go again. We decided the best option was to start overnight as the winds drop off up until 10am... We shall see how this pans out. Hopefully the swell doesn't have us nose diving again.
The galley was busy yesterday: another batch of chocolate brownies, dumplings, a lasagne, a huge beef & red w**e casserole, & we are ready to go.
So it's up & away at 2am. The bed has been stripped & covered in plastic again (a new hatch couldn't hold up against that much water 2 days ago 😭) & we got a bit more aggressive with packing things down (although monohull sailors would still smack us).
Let's see if we can make Gloucester today.

When he is seasick, he sleeps. I can't enjoy it unfortunately as I am also sleeping away my seasickness.
We've had a 37 knot squall, been pitched around like a rubber ducky, & one of our umbrellas even fell off the reel rack (we will rebuild).
At one point we were actually doing 2knots to manage the swell.

87nm yesterday, 66.2 the day before... 70 ish to knock over today hopefully. Even day sailing it's exhausting.
Any cruiser will tell you the worst thing you can do is try to be somewhere by a given date.
No one does this by choice.

Would you believe the captain ordered a diet onboard mere days ago?
With needing to head south 🥺🤮😥 we are preparing our "bashing into snacks". During brainstorming the captain suggested.... Brownies.
So, faster than lightspeed before he changes his mind, I have made a batch of underway brownies. And tested to make sure it's not a bad batch.
