BREAKING NEWS! SCURRY WINS 2024 AUDIENCE AWARD.

The Closing Night World Premiere of Luke Sparke's SCURRY has proven the festival's ultimate crowdpleaser, with the dramatic thriller taking out 2024 Ion Sci-Fi Audience Award.

Starring Jamie Costas and Emalia as survivors of an extinction-level event trapped underground, the latest from the director of the global hit Occupation Rainfall is a nail-biting creature feature that unfolds as a single-shot marvel.

"The festival was privileged to have secured the first bigscreen outing for Luke's latest, a film that solidifies his reputation as a gifted teller of ambitious, exciting genre stories," says festival director Simon Foster. "Scurry is a technical marvel, which we've come to expect from Luke, but also a gripping personal story of two protagonists exhibiting deeply human traits."

Audience members voted at the Ion Sci-Fi official poll, accessed via the website of the festival's Official Media Partner.

A Sparke Films production, Scurry can next be seen at Monster Fest events at Event Cinemas Brisbane on Saturday 5th October and Melbourne's Cinema Nova on October 9. The film will be distributed in Australia by Umbrella Entertainment.
