Hi, I’m Ellexis! I’m 14, neurodivergent, and I have type 1 diabetes. I use my social media platforms to share what it’s like living with my disabilities - through humor, real-life moments, and educational content. I like to show people what it looks like to be disabled while pursuing your interests.

📚 Disability History — Christmas in Purgatory (1966)

Today, I learned that two men, Burton Blatt and Fred Kaplan, secretly photographed U.S. institutions for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the mid-1960s.
Their book, Christmas in Purgatory, revealed the horrific conditions inside: crowded wards, children left on bare floors, and people treated as objects instead of humans.

What was called care was actually neglect, and those images finally forced the public to see it. The outrage sparked lawsuits, policy reform, and the push toward community-based support and self-advocacy.

Disability history matters - it highlights how we got where we are and what mistakes should not be revisted again.

Neurodivergent life = constantly micro-managing facial expressions so people don’t misread your baseline.

Resting face isn’t rude - it’s just rest. 🫶

Any other neurodivergents just… panic-blurt completely false things for no reason? 😭
My ADHD + autism combo treats awkward moments like improv night — stress hits → random words exit my mouth.
Actual truth? Lost somewhere between panic and people-pleasing 💀

Anxiety: “Just say something.”
Brain: “Cool. Let’s lie now.”

life = accidental fiction writer edition ✨

Fun fact 💡 ADHD diagnoses rose because awareness grew, not because “suddenly everyone has it.”
Girls, adults, and minorities are still underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed away from neurodivergence due to bias, outdated stereotypes, and limited research.

It’s not an overdiagnosis problem.
It’s an under-recognition problem. 🩷🧩

Let’s talk facts, not stigma.

Please explain how it’s appropriate that some people still think autism is a choice, bad parenting, or spiritual punishment.
My brain wiring isn’t a lifestyle decision. It’s not because I was “poorly socialised,” and it’s definitely not because my parents were too permissive.

If demons caused autism, church basements would be the most diverse neurodivergent meetups ever. 💀
You can’t parent, punish, or pray autism away. But you can make autistic kids hate themselves trying.

It’s time to replace stigma with science and acceptance. 🧩💜

Neurospicy brain under pressure = instant life story unlock.
Trying to sound calm and concise? Nah, we’re oversharing about alien spaceships now 👽✨
Word-vomit: engaged. Confidence: pretending. Relatability: 100%.

You’re not weird. You’re wired differently.

Hey bestie 💅 just thought you should know - people with ADHD often multitask not because it’s efficient, but because our brains crave stimulation.
We start 12 things, finish none… but every unfinished thing is proof of our creativity, curiosity, and chaos-fueled brilliance 🧠💖

ADHD isn’t laziness - it’s overdrive.
brains are busy trying everything at once.

Breaking news 🗞 Autism doesn’t have one look.
Assuming we’re all the same is ableist and it erases how beautifully diverse, individual, and authentic autistic people actually are. 💜
It’s called a spectrum for a reason, and every person on it deserves to be seen, heard, and respected.

isn’t a trend. It’s reality.
