“I’m not an angry person” meanwhile, I’ve always taken my anger out on my parents and then sometimes my siblings and then my kids when they came along. 🫠
“I’m not an angry person” meanwhile, my skin is riddled with eczema (emotion behind eczema is anger). 🫠🫠

The problem was not that I was or wasn’t an angry person — it’s that I’ve never known how to deal with anger properly, in the right way.

It’s been trial and error on working out what’s going to work for me when it comes to dealing with anger and tbh, I used to tell myself I had nothing to be angry about bc so many had it worse than me. 🚩 I had to face the fact that actually, I had so much to rightfully be angry about, feel it and somehow transmute it. Which is honestly still a work in progress. So much easier to suppress it and tbh that’s why I smoked so much 🍁 until I realised I was getting even ANGRIER when I didn’t have it. 😩 The one thing I’ve found that has truly helped me is Homeopathics. But you really have to find a good Homeopath — bc before I was taking the remedies I’m on now, I feel like I was on some that took me to a really dark place and had to come off them. It really is all trial and error, but I’ve never felt more in control than I do now. Thanks to Kylie | Homeopath | Perth SOR for her continuous support. 🥹

Processing our anger in a healthy way is not something majority of us are taught. What we are taught is to either swallow it, or explode onto those we love. It’s something we have to learn usually as an adult and for me it was something I could no longer run away from becoming a Māmā and of two boys. How can I teach them something that I don’t know? That’s why it’s important to learn.

We can hold our anger in in front of work colleagues, in laws, in public — but we can’t control it when it comes to those we love most? When it comes to our kids? Na. I call BS. If you can control it then, control it when it matters most. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
Definitely not perfect, but committed to being better for my kids.

Spent the morning at surely one of the most beautiful beaches in the world 🌎
The water is sooo magical, the tide was perfectly high when we arrived, still coming in! The water was so good — I could just swim and watch the kids play on the sand. Then, to top it off dolphins came swimming thru the creek!! Surely a good tohu 😂😅✨ the whole beach was very excited to see!

If you’re a Parent and you don’t have one of these trolleys or a cool cabana, I’m telling you, you need one! I was able to take the kids and everything we needed + the cabana is sooo easy to set up and pack-down solo too! I was a bit worried how the trolley would go on the dry sand and it was a lil bit of a mish but worth it to get everything near the water and thankfully my eldest is in his helping era and lil bro in his copy whatever his big brother does era. So they were verrrry… helpful 🫠😅🤣

The parking there is criminal thooooo. Or it’s gna make me a criminal 🤣 Almost one outs a lady who tried to take my park 😩🤣💀 na jk but words and hand signals were had lollllll.

Bit of a vulnerable share… but I’ve always felt and experienced that if you share and speak your fears out loud, they get smaller or seem not so bad 😅

I don’t know what it is to feel “Māori enough” whilst living in Aotearoa (YET), because I never felt that living there. It took me moving away to be able to really discover that within myself, to even desire to discover it. There’s so much judgement back home around “plastic Māori” not knowing enough about anything and everything, and here in Australia there just isn’t any of that. Most have a common connection when it comes to feeling disconnected and so being on the journey to rediscover that is met with so much compassion, grace and understanding (that has been my experience anyway). I also think the fact that this isn’t our whenua, everyone has this mutual respect — whereas back home there is an unspoken hierarchy of who/where is “better” (again, just my experience).

There’s a few things that scare me about moving home and so many mentioned money being a main one but honestly… this is way above money for me. I know it may seem crazy or irrational lol and I know I can ultimately hold my own, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say this didn’t made me nervous as hell.

Anyway, putting it out there to hopefully lessen the fear what’s the saying, feel the fear and do it anyway or something along those lines lol.

I’ve been reading this puka to Rehua since before he could even talk properly. He’s memorising it pretty good these days, smart boy 🥰 so much so that he thinks he already knows it, even when he gets it wrong 🙄🤣

This is just one of the many little things that I’m proud to be teaching my babies. Something I didn’t learn until I was an adult! Not only that, but he actually knows these places and has been to them, which creates more understanding of his pepeha.

As Māori we believe that we are of the land. That we somewhat belong to — or maybe are kaitiaki of, could be a better way to put it, of our mountain, our river, etc. etc. sometimes some of us (like me) whakapapa to places that we are still yet to visit physically 🥺 which is just another negative result of colonisation and the urbanisation of Māori.

I’m grateful that my kids will have more connection than I did at their age and that’s healing in itself. Whilst still holding the vision that I’ll get there one day soon myself ☺️ in the meantime, I’ll continue teaching my tamariki about their pepeha + their whakapapa so they never have to wonder where they come from.

I just have to believe that this karanga wouldn’t be calling if there wasn’t better waiting for me/us upon our return ✨ reminding myself that things can work out better than you’d ever imagined and that has been the theme of my life so far, so why wouldn’t it be the same here? 😅

RUN 🏃🏽‍♀️ DON’T WALK.
This is the Mama of two hack that I didn’t know I needed! I love strapping my kids in the pram because it makes life so much easier. Iykyk I hate my kids running around when we are at the shops etc 😩🫠🤣 but our side by side two seater can be chunky to take around, plus the boys just fight next to each other 😅 and they pretty much refuse to sit it in anyway. So, when I bought this thing out, our Hoppie ® stroller seat — my eldest was stoked and thought it was so exciting. He said “I love my new back seat mama” and well, in true brotherly fashion, they fought over who would get to sit in it didn’t theyyyyyy 🤣💀 it was easy as to set up and I’ve just kept it on the back of my pram because it all folds away with the stroller like it’s not even there. This is a life saver!!!!! Yay to locking my kids back up in the shops so I can do more shopping 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤏🏾

I’ve been absent on here for a few weeks as I’ve been sitting with a few things..
One being sharing my kids publicly online 💔
I’m so proud of my kids and we literally make the fkn cutest kids I want everyone to see 😭😅 howeverrrr, having a platform comes with many responsibilities but my first one is to my family.
I’ve thought about this more than I’d like to admit and it’s so s**t that you even have to think about things like this, because in a perfect world I should be able to post my kids without negative consequences. Unfortunately that’s not our reality though is it…
I have a lot of friends with big platforms that share their kids online and i love seeing other peoples kids too! But something that really caught my attention was a random comment someone left on a friends post that said how connected they felt to their child even though they’d never met 😅 and that’s so strange to think!! It also made me think about the fact that I could be with my kids, or they could be with my family somewhere and people could spot them out like “I know that kid!” When you don’t, you just know their face. My kids love being in front of the camera but still, that doesn’t mean they understand the extent of their reach and how that all works, which is why I as the adult need to do better and I can’t ignore the pit I’ve had in my stomach lately about it. There’s some sick people out there after all this world is run by p€d0s but not only that like I mentioned before this weird relationship where people think they know you, just because small parts of someones lives are shared online. I used to think oh I don’t want to feed in to the fear, I’ll still show up online as I want to. But I’m always teaching my kids about body safety, safety around people they do and don’t know and this online part relates to it all, they just don’t understand that yet. Anyone who has a problem with parents who choose to keep their kids offline is part of the problem 😩🫠 so yeah, this means my shares will look a little different and I hope that’s not an issue for anyone. Does it mean forever? Maybe not, but for right now while they are so young, it just makes sense.
