WOC are reclaiming IWD and our leadership space. And today, we kicked that off with an incredible event with Vu Consulting as part of the 'More Voices, More Representation' campaign.

As we gathered these incredible women of colour together, it was a perfect example of why these intersectional discussions need to happen. One minoritised group cannot rise if we leave another behind - women, people of colour, First Nations people, people with disability, the LGBTQIA+ community. And when we work together, great change can happen for all of us.

It was an honour to be able to MC this event and launch the report from Vu Consulting that looks at woc's experiences in IWD and beyond. I want to thank Mylan Vu and her incredible team for putting this together. A huge shoutout to the incredible women who spoke Rowena Welsh - Jarrett, Brenda Gaddi, Niti Nadarajah, Prabha Nandagopal, Nareen Young, Neha M. and Lisa Sarago.

So what can you do?

It was an honour to be a Finalist in the Asian Australian leadership awards for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. But it was even more special to be able to share this night with my mum. ⚡️

Being a first generation Asian Aussie, the life of entrepreneurship had never been clear in front of me. But seeing my dad run a successful business for over 35 years had inadvertently influenced where I've ended up. I'm where I am because of both my parent's strengths migrating to Australia and how they raised me.

It's made me really reflect on my own journey of racial identity. Growing up in the 90s, I definitely didn't feel welcome in this country. Politicians were telling us to 'go back to where we came from.' But now, we get to celebrate a politician like Penny Wong (and even get to introduce her to my mum!)

But there is still a long way to go for the equity and inclusion of Asian Australians. I want us to not only be recognised but have our voices heard. I want to fight for the next generation to not face the discrimination I have faced - just like my parents fought for me.

Congratulations to who won in our category and all the honourees on the night. Asian excellence is here to stay.

I am humbled to be a finalist for the .

It's had me reflecting on my personal journey with embracing my cultural identity and in particular, the opportunities I've been afforded due to my parents' hard work and tenacity.

The unique third culture Asian Aussies live in is still misunderstood by others and even ourselves. I've found greater solace and community by sharing my own misgivings about it. I'm excited that an awards night like this recognises people like me and celebrates the fact that, despite it all, we break down bamboo ceilings and become the people that I hope I'd had to look up to as I was growing up.

Thank you to .au for the recognition!
