Healesville Tall Tales Telling the Tales of Healesville

17/03/2024

The Healesville Historical Society is hosting, what I’m sure, will be an entertaining discussion.

The special guest is Dr Elroy Schroeder who recently retired after looking after generations. His talk is at 2pm to 3pm Thursday 21st March in the Healesville Library. Title “ Change as experienced by a GP during 50years in Healesville “. There are flyers at the library containing more information or contact the Historical Society

It’s seems everyone thoroughly enjoyed Healesville Tall Tales - The Butcher, The Bakers & The Undertaker, which was held today at The Memorial Hall.

A huge thank you to Eric Duff, Lyn & Neville Johnson and Robbie Heritage for taking the time to share their stories with the community.

We will follow up in April with 1/2 hr podcasts featuring each of the above, where we will hear even more amazing stories.

Special thanks to the Shire of Yarra Ranges and Healesville’s Bendigo Bank for supporting the Connecting Community Festival and to Catherine Nolan for organising the festival.

The final interview is done in preparation for Tall Tales: The Butcher, The Bakers & The Undertaker being held this Sunday 10 March at 11am in the Memorial Hall. So many stories from Robbie Heritage, some I was shocked to learn.

Hope to see you Sunday.

Just finished the first interviews with The Butcher, Eric Duff and The Bakers, Lyn & Neville Jonhson. I didn't know that Eric had done his apprenticeship with the legendary local butcher Alec Christie. Fantastic stories shared today and has me wondering how we are going to fit it all into the hour.

Don't forget, Healesville Tall Tales - The Butcher, The Bakers and the Undertaker is next Sunday, 10 March at the Memo Hall.

No need to book your seats, as its first in best dressed, so I encourage you to get there early.
