The Rules Change after 40.

We reach the stage in our lives where we don’t need to shrint, we need to strengthen.

For years, we were taught to “burn calories” to stay healthy.

We were encouraged to walk more, do cardio, and keep moving, and most of us did and saw results.

But menopause changes the rules.

We lose muscle naturally after 40, and muscle is what keeps metabolism steady, bones strong, joints supported, and energy stable.

Cardio is excellent for the heart, but strength training is what transforms our health.

A few minutes a day can:

✨ boost metabolism
✨ support weight balance
✨ improve sleep
✨ reduce joint pain
✨ strengthen bones
✨ stabilise hormones
✨ improve posture + confidence
✨ support long-term mobility

Transitioning to menopause isn’t about getting smaller; it's about becoming stronger physically and mentally.

Why We Don't Fast Our Way Through Menopause — We Fuel Our Way Through It

There was a time when fasting worked for me.
Skipping breakfast didn't feel hard until menopause arrived.

Then suddenly, skipping meals wasn't empowering; it made me anxious, flat, shaky, and more emotional.

Now I understand why:

Low estrogen makes us more sensitive to blood sugar drops.
When we go too long without eating, the body releases cortisol and adrenaline to keep us going.

But cortisol is already elevated in menopause, so symptoms feel more pronounced.

Symptoms you may feel are: anxiety, irritability, fatigue, cravings, and weight gain, all of which intensify.

Fasting isn't about the body failing; during menopause, it can do more harm than good by disrupting hormonal balance and increasing symptoms.

Your body needs proper nourishment, not deprivation, to support hormonal health and manage menopause symptoms effectively.
Regular meals.
Balanced protein.
Gentle carbs.
Kindness.

Menopause is a time to fuel yourself physically, emotionally, and hormonally.

Your body works better when it isn't running on empty.

Why Menopause Tests Relationships More Than We Expect

Menopause doesn’t just change us, it changes the way we relate to others, especially our partners and loved ones.

It feels like we have become even more sensitive than we ever were, and being aware of this hypersensitivity makes us less tolerant of everyday chaos.

For me, it was being more honest about my needs, something that was foreign to me.

It wasn’t that I stopped loving the people in my circle any less. I felt like I just couldn’t carry everyone’s emotions anymore.

That means the people around us aren’t always sure what’s happening.

This is where gentle, honest communication becomes our anchor.

In my own life, even simple routines like evening walks, warm showers, or a quiet cuppa have helped me ground myself, so I could respond instead of react.

Why Skin Changes in Menopause.

As estrogen declines, our skin loses hydration, elasticity, and oil balance.

This leads to:

* dryness
* itchiness
* sensitivity
* dullness
* slower healing

Gentle support:

* Bathing and showering toxic free
* Light, breathable clothing
* Softer fabrics
* Hydration for internal and external cellular balance
* Reducing harsh soaps
* Staying aware of emotional stress — it shows up in the skin
* Mineral-rich water (like from Anespa) can feel soothing on dry or irritated skin

What happened to my skin?

I literally felt like my skin changed overnight. Thanks Menopause!!!!

All my life I considered myself one of the lucky ones with skin that tanned perfectly, looked better without makeup and no blemishes, until, menopause.

Suddenly I noticed dry patches appearing, I had itches in areas I never had before, a sensitivity I never felt before but it was the integrity, the thinning and the prolonged healing that affected me most.

My skin was simply responding to hormonal shifts and the stresses that come with it.

So I made it a ritual to care for my skin gently: soft fabrics, toxic free products, hydration and using my Anespa mineral shower to soothe dryness and calm irritation.

Not to “fix” my skin—but to nourish it.

Why Libido Changes in Menopause

Lower estrogen, stress load, and sleep changes can all make desire feel “far away.”

Supportive practices:

* Slow down the evening pace
* Create calm before bed (darkness helps the nervous system shift into rest mode)
* Warm baths or showers to relax tension
* More emotional connection, less pressure
* Body awareness—what feels nourishing vs. draining
* Adequate lubrication (dryness alone can shut down desire)
* Self-compassion—your worth is not tied to libido

And one thing I personally love:

Using warm, mineral-rich water (Anespa) to ease tension and bring me into a more relaxed state.

It helps my body soften which helps intimacy feel safe again.
