This month's Bizi Women Connect Member Spotlight introduces us to Urangan local Alison Drummond-Jones and the story behind her Norwex business.

After struggling with sensitivities to fragrances and ingredients in conventional cleaning products, Alison started looking for alternatives for her own home and family. That search eventually introduced her to a completely different way of cleaning and, unexpectedly, a new business passion.

She's now been a Norwex Consultant for more than six years.

Read Alison's story on page 24 of Issue 14.

Sometimes it isn’t more motivation we need; it’s a little direction.

Hervey Bay strategist Lizzie Macaulay is returning to K’gari this October with her annual Vision Into Velocity retreat, created for women in business who want to step away from the day-to-day and work out what comes next.

I particularly loved reading about what happened after previous attendees returned home, from launching new ideas to securing national training contracts and finding a clearer direction in business.

There are only a small number of places available for this year’s retreat.

You can read more about Lizzie, the retreat and some of the women who have attended in Issue 14.

A big welcome to Hervey Bay, Fiona!

Interior designer Fiona Rose McGregor has recently made Hervey Bay home and is bringing Sand + Linen Design Studio with her.

From kitchens and bathrooms to custom joinery, interior styling, concept plans and colour consultations, Fiona's approach is about creating homes that reflect the people who actually live in them — rather than simply following trends.

I always love being able to introduce a new local business through Island View Connect, particularly when the person behind it is just as excited to become part of our community.

Meet Fiona and Sand + Linen Design Studio on page 23.

How often do we get the chance to see an Australian independent film before the rest of the country?

On Saturday 5 September, Hervey Bay will host an exclusive preview screening of the Australian romcom Rebound at the Hervey Bay Boat Club Cinemas.

Read the full story on page 9 of Issue 14 and if a girls’ night out sounds good, this could be a fun one!

This month’s beautiful image was captured by local photographer Sarah Keast, owner of Wild Oath Photography.

I love that our covers give us the opportunity to show the Fraser Coast through the eyes of local photographers — whether photography is their profession or simply something they love doing.

Thank you Sarah for allowing us to feature your beautiful work on this month’s cover.

And a little reminder — our cover photo submissions are open to Fraser Coast locals. You don’t need to be a professional photographer. If you have captured an image that you think reflects life in our beautiful region, I’d love to see it.

I think there are quite a few local business owners who will relate to this month’s article from Josh Rimmington of JR Marketing Group.

Josh looks back over 12 years in business and shares the one marketing lesson he would tell his younger self and it has very little to do with social media, advertising or having the perfect campaign.

It’s about reputation, consistency and simply doing what you say you’re going to do.

A really worthwhile read for anyone running a business on the Fraser Coast.

Find it on page 13 of Issue 14.

Issue 14 of Island View Connect is here 💙

There are so many wonderful people who take the time to contribute to Island View Connect each month, sharing their knowledge, stories, advice and what’s happening within our community.

I hope you enjoy this month’s edition and perhaps discover something new about the Fraser Coast along the way.

How beautiful is this month's cover photo by Sarah, owner of .oath.photography

Have a read of Issue 14 and let me know what catches your eye.
