Big fan of teaching youngins big tricks. Their brains can take in so much, and it helps the skill become more natural as they progress through the age groups/ranks.
I taught defensive switches to my niece when she was 9, and here are some more 9 year olds learning (and nailing!) how and when to switch!
Its not about perfection, its about understanding the concept, so when they learn it later on, it comes more naturally to them.
Then as they get older, you can add more layers, quicker.
The key is KEEP IT SIMPLE and dont progress until they NAIL it. I'll post a how-to soon.
We underestimate how much they can learn when they are little sponges! I've been coaching grassroots full-time for over 6 years now and love seeing their development & progression
