Key Types of Charging:
AC Level 1 & 2 (Standard/Medium): This is the most common type for home, workplace, and public parking. It uses standard AC electricity and typically takes 4 to 8 hours to fully charge a vehicle.
DC Fast Charging (High-Power): Essential for long-distance travel, these stations convert power before it enters the car, delivering a large amount of direct current (DC). They can charge an EV battery from 10% to 80% in just 15 to 45 minutes.
Common Connector Types:
Vehicles use different plugs depending on the manufacturer and region. The main types are CCS (Combined Charging System), NACS (North American Charging Standard, originally by Tesla), CHAdeMO, and GB/T (China standard).
How to Find Stations:
Drivers use mobile apps and in-car navigation systems, such as PlugShare, to locate nearby chargers, check real-time availability, and pay for sessions.
