Do you remember these names of announcers who were broadcasting before World War 2 broke out? 2LM is celebrating 90 years of broadcasting this month. Our studio scrapbooks have some amazing historical photos of 2LM announcers from over the years and some names here still have family members in our local community. Woodland Avenue in Lismore Heights was named after 2LM's first station manager Vaughn Woodland.

Flashback Friday! Did you have one of these on your vehicle? This early 1970s logo was seen on car bumpers and windscreens all over the Northern Rivers and Far North Coast. Thanks to Trevor Thompson for the memory. He has donated some of his photos and memories to us. You will be hearing him and more of our amazing former announcers on 2LM's Birthday on September 21st. All first responders helped out with this weekend truck crash. The driver was taken to hospital after being freed from the vehicle. We wish him a gentle recovery.

🚨 ROAD CRASH RESCUE – FAIRY HILL 🚨

At approximately 10:15pm Saturday 5th September, Casino Rescue Squad was activated to reports of a truck that had left the Summerland Way at Fairy Hill, impacted with a tree and trapped the driver.

On arrival, crews found a small food-delivery pantech truck entangled in cattle-grid fencing and partially positioned up a tree, leaving the vehicle unstable. The driver was trapped by compression around their lower legs.

Working closely with NSW Ambulance paramedics and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter critical care team, rescue crews used specialised cutting, spreading and stabilisation equipment, along with the squad’s new rescue platform, to safely access the driver.

The truck’s doors were removed before crews pushed the dashboard and steering column away from the driver’s legs, successfully freeing them. The driver was then extricated from the cab onto an ambulance stretcher and transported to hospital for further treatment.

NSW Rural Fire Service crews assisted with managing potential spills and provided fire protection for paramedics and rescuers throughout the operation.

Well done to all services involved in what was a technically challenging rescue.
