CALLOUT FOR VOLUME 17 ISSUE #5: Pavlova (Annual Australian Issue) 🥝🍓

It’s time for Grapey’s annual Australian issue, and we would love to hear from everyone – from born and raised Aussies and Indigenous voices, to international students who are still trying to find their feet.

There has been a longstanding debate about whether the iconic Pavlova has Australian or Kiwi origins, with both nations taking claim to it being their respective national dessert.
So for 2025’s Australian edition of Grapeshot, we invite you to explore and dig into Australian culture. For this theme, you might want to take a dive into the trivial debates, like the pavlova’s origin or if rugby union or rugby league is the superior sport. You could take a more serious stance, and discuss controversial issues that plague Australian society. The ideas are endless, and the world truly is your oyster, so it’s time to SEND IT!

CALLOUT FOR VOLUME 17, ISSUE 4: SIREN 🧜🫧💜

In Greek mythology, a siren is a creature known to lure sailors to their deaths with hypnotic song. Originally possessing the upper body of a beautiful woman and the lower body of a bird, sirens are now more often portrayed as mesmerising mermaids singing from rocky shores.

All about seduction and temptation, Siren is the latest manifestation of Grapeshot’s annual S*x Issue. You may teach your tried-and-true temptress techniques, fawn over your favourite fictional femme fatales, bewitch your beloved with a sultry sonnet or even spotlight a steamy scandal in the news.
Of course, a siren can also be defined as a loud signal or warning, so don’t shy away from delving into the darker underbelly of intimacy. Undress a past experience that taught you to be wary, tear apart toxicity, raise the matter of red flags or even drive home the danger of unsafe s*x.

You may interpret the theme however you wish, whether literally, figuratively or tangentially. In any case, it’s time to bite your lip, flutter those lashes and get ready for Issue 4.
