I normally avoid being facetious or sarcastic in my journalism as I regard irreverence as part of a broader problem, but sometimes the humour is what keeps us sane. We can not combat the problem of people with serious mental problems being ignored and silenced by being "nice" in the face of it.

We thankfully are more accepting that mental illness is a real problem, but how might you respond if I asked you what exactly makes it real? I have an article on this that answers the question:

I like to help raise awareness of the work of other organisations. In this edition, meet Art Of Caring. Art of Caring offers compassionate, person-centred, neuro-affirming, L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+-inclusive, trauma-aware, and client-led counselling for children, teens and adults on the Gold Coast, Australia. Run by Debra Boath, an A.C.A.-registered counsellor with lived experience as a late-diagnosed Au.D.H.D. adult and parent of neurodivergent young adults, Art of Caring provides a genuinely understanding space for neurodivergent individuals, parents and families navigating life's complexities. Services include individual counselling, LEGOⓇ-Based Therapy groups, and creative group programs including art and craft sessions at Healing Hooves Inc. in Nerang.
