James Champy (www.facebook.com/people/James-Champy/61555954140069/?mibextid=2JQ9oc) is a talented young musician from Mill Park in Melbourne's north east and he's renowned for his skill as a guitarist. He's taken the stage at some of Australia’s most iconic venues and festivals, including the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Gympie Muster, The Evelyn Hotel and various rodeos and B&S Balls across regional Victoria.

James will be attending the highly prestigious CMAA Academy in Tamworth as an Instrumental Student on a partial scholarship, thanks to funding provided to The Academy by Maton Guitars, and I'm delighted to have him standing by on the phone waiting to chat to me about this extraordinary opportunity that's sure to open some doors for him as his musical career gains momentum.

I was delighted to be able have a chat on the phone with him this afternoon to talk about his expectations and his future as an aspiriing professional musician.

Stunning, heartfelt vocals, beautifully-crafted songs and world- class performances, there are few female voices in Australia to rival the class and style of the amazing lady I interviewed this afternoon on The Country Club.

With a career spanning the Country music clubs of the Darling Downs to countless stages across Australia and the world, the uber talented Lyn Bowtell (www.facebook.com/Lyn.Bowtell.Music) from Newcastle has earned her place as one of the our nation's most captivating and accomplished musical artists.

Lyn first took flight as founding member and songwriter of the award-winning Country Pop trio Bella. Since then, she’s carved out a stellar solo career, releasing a string of critically acclaimed Albums, including Secret Songs (2012), Heart of Sorrow (2014), EP Calling You (2017), and Wiser (2022).

With influences spanning Country, Blues, Jazz, and Pop, Lyn’s rich, emotive vocals and soul-stirring songwriting set her apart as a genuine musical force. Few voices in Australian music rival her class, style, and raw authenticity.

Lyn's recent single, "Scene Of The Crime", off her latest album entitled "Paper Cuts", is an excellent example of just how incredibly talented she is when it comes to crafting a truly great song, from inception to final release, and I consider playing any of her tracks on The Country Club a genuine labour of love.

Lyn is a ten-time Golden Guitar Award winner, a Toyota Star Maker winner, a MO award winner, a Hands of Fame inductee, and she is the Director of the CMAA Academy of Country Music. This lady clearly needs a hobby!

I first spoke with Lyn at the Wesley-Anne in Northcote back in September of 2022, when she graciously allowed me to record an interview with her prior to her going on stage, and I'm truly delighted and privileged to have her standing by on the phone right now, waiting to have another chat with me, so let's bring this incredible songstress on air without any further ado.

I was delighted to be able to have another chat on the phone this afternoon with rising Brisbane-based Country music singer Tyla Rodrigues (www.facebook.com/people/Tyla-Rodrigues/100070738920575).

Fresh from her performances at CMA Fest and Americana Fest in the US, Tyla is back with her brand-new single, "By The Time It’s Over", which is the sensational follow-up to her breakout track “Hot & Heavy” that climbed to #14 on the Countrytown chart.

Tyla is a remarkable talent in the realm of old-school Country music and she has already carved out a name for herself with her soulful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and captivating stage presence. Her debut EP, "Upon Reflection", that was released last year, amassed close to 1 million streams and she’s now set to perform at some of Australia’s biggest festivals in 2026, including the Tamworth Country Music Festival, CMC Rocks, and the Howlin’ Country Festival.

Born and raised with a deep appreciation for traditional Country sounds, Tyla has managed to blend the timeless essence of the genre with her own soulful style.

There can be no doubt that Tyla is well and truly on the road to success and I, for one, will be watching her progress with great interest because I firmly believe we have by no means heard the last of this very talented young lady.

I first spoke with Sarah from The Buckleys family band (www.facebook.com/Buckleysfamilyband) on the phone back in May of this year and I was delighted to have another great chat with her this afternoon on The Country Club.

The Buckleys were nominated for "Group or Duo of the Year" at the inaugural CountryTown Awards, one of Australia’s most beloved chart-topping family bands, The Buckleys, from Byron Bay, are back with their highly anticipated new single, “What Were Your Dreams Made Of”, which was co-written with Kingswood's Alexander Laska and hitmaker Ned Houston.

For those who don't know, The Buckleys' lineup consists of siblings Sarah, Lachlan and Molly Buckley, plus the latest addition, their youngest brother, 17 year old Dylan, who is now officially their permanent drummer, expanding the trio into a full blown 4-piece family band.

I had a great chat this afternoon on the phone with Boggabri singer-songwriter, Sam Snape (www.facebook.com/samsnapeartist), who was raised on Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson, so his Country roots definitely run deep. Music has been part of his story since childhood, from playing his grandparents’ old piano and listening to his mum and stepfather’s cassette tapes on the road between Boggabri and Mullaley, to his mum recording home videos singing along to 90’s Country.

Sam's recently released debut album, entitled "Good Things", which features a bunch of really great songs that were written and recorded during a journey that began back in January 2024, after Sam's appearance on Australian Idol.

I first interviewed Caitlyn Shadbolt (www.facebook.com/CaitlynShadboltMusic) back in June of this year and I had the pleasure this afternoon of again chatting with her on the phone this afternoon. Caitlyn is an award-winning singer/songwriter from Gympie in QLD, who has been lauded by many of those in the know as ‘one to watch’.

As a finalist in the sixth season of The ‘X Factor’ Australia, Caitlyn secured a recording deal with ABC MUSIC and released her debut album, "Songs On My Sleeve", which went straight to #1 on the ARIA Country Album chart. The first single from the album, "My Break Up Anthem", held the #1 spot on the National Country Airplay Chart for over 8 consecutive weeks and became the 2nd most played song on Country Radio. I'm absolutely convinced her latest sensational single, “Wildflowers”, is sure to meet with the same, if not greater, level of success.

Caitlyn was recognised for her achievements by winning the CMC Award for Best New Artist, along with a nomination for Female Artist of the Year.

Caitlyn's second album, "Stages", produced hit singles including "Edge Of The Earth" and "Bones". The album was co-produced by Caitlyn herself, with all vocals and acoustic guitar being recorded in her make-shift home studio during lock down.

This year she will embark on an even bigger creative project – recording and producing her third album with partner Matt Smith in their newly built studio - and I'm very much looking forward to hearing the result of that endeavour. In addition, she has performances coming up at some of Australia’s most iconic festivals, including Gympie Muster, Mundi Mundi Bash, and This is Livin’ Fest.

Australia was introduced to Lane Pittman (www.facebook.com/LanePittmanMusic) back in April 2022, when the then 16-year-old school student from Tamworth, with the glorious mullet haircut and his amazing voice, wowed audiences with his cover of Luke Combs' “Even Though I'm Leaving” as his audition for The Voice Australia.

Lane bulldozed through the last couple of years and now he rocketed into 2024 with the release of his self-titled EP. His latest single, the heart-warming track I played a minute ago entitled "Man I’m Turning Out To Be", which follows the breakout success last year of his sensational song, "Amen For The Weekend", which earned him national TV appearances, top streaming spots, and his first Golden Guitar.

Since supporting Luke Combs on his sold out Australian arena tour in 2023, Lane has been on a roll with no signs of slowing down. Selling out his headline show at last year's Tamworth Country Music Festival, being nominated for the New Talent of the Year Golden Guitar award and with his appearance at the iconic CMC Rocks, the excitement surrounding of his EP's release couldn't have been higher.

I first spoke on the phone with Lane last year and I was delighted to have another chat with Lane on the phone this afternoon. I think it's pretty clear that this young bloke has got success written all over him. I think I can safely predict that he has a huge career ahead of him so I'll be keeping a keen eye on his progress.

I first interviewed Brisbane based singer/songwriter Will Day (www.facebook.com/willdaymusicofficial) on the phone back in December of 2019 and several times since then, and I was sincerely delighted to have the opportunity of catching up with him again this arvo on The Country Club.

Will has become a highly celebrated artist in Australia’s Country music scene and he's performed at iconic festivals such as the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Savannah in the Round, Gympie Music Muster, Deni Ute Muster, Texas Country Music Festival in QLD, and Winton’s Way Out West Fest.

His electrifying new single, "Red Dirt Church", follows a string of standout singles over the past few years including the chart-topping “Countrified”, the emotional “Dear Dad”, and crowd favourites “Always A Girl,” “The Way We Are,” “Find Myself A Dirt Road”, and the high-energy Country Rock anthem, “My Kinda Crowd”, all of which remain firm favourites in the Country Club playlist

Will’s passion for Country music is undoubtedly strong. Constantly releasing heartfelt ballads, along with supercharged foot stomping rockers, has ensured he has continued to build his prominence as one of Australia’s premier Country music artists, a reputation that has undoubtedly been further cemented with his latest awesome single.

With a genuine gift for storytelling, combined with compelling vocals and the ability to connect with a crowd, Will has become one of this country’s foremost artists and he will undoubtedly be at the cutting edge of Country music for a long time to come.

Heath Milner (https://www.facebook.com/HeathMilner1) is a singer/songwriter from Mackay in North Queensland who is back in the spotlight with his brand-new single, "Rollin'", which I’m sure is destined to be another huge hit for him. Of course, I wasted no time in adding it to The Country Club playlist so I can give it some regular airplay.

Coming into the industry at the age of 17, Heath made the bold decision to put himself out there and auditioned for The Voice Australia. During his audition, he was presented with an amazing opportunity by Boy George, who was so impressed with the young bloke that he provided him with an all-expenses-paid trip to Nashville and facilitated some great songwriting sessions with the likes of Ruston Kelly and Jeff Cohen. The roll-on effect of this was Heath being a 2018 Toyota Star Maker grand finalist.

After stepping away from the industry for a few years, Heath’s return has been met with open arms and helped cement his place in Australian Country music, so now he’s ready, willing and able to showcase exactly who he is as an artist.

I had a great interview this arvo on the Country Club with rising Country music artist and former chef, Kane Vincent (www.facebook.com/kanevincentmusic), who grew tired of the smoky grills, long hours, family drama, relationships, and life in general, and took the advice of a Jason Isbell song to “find what makes you happy and do it till you’re gone”, so he picked up his old Maton guitar and got stuck into it.

Born and raised in Echuca, Kane spent his formative teen years in Urbana USA, picking up a love for guitar and a slight Midwest twang at the same time

Over the last five years he’s lugged that guitar in and out of pubs, parties and festivals all over Australia but he no longer sings in the kitchen. Kane's loveable spirit, impressive song writing and his engaging vocals continue to win him fans right across this great land of ours as he makes an impressive name for himself as a Country music artist.

Keenly observant, Kane finds lyrical inspiration in both the mundane and extraordinary everyday stories of life that give his songs a sensibility with more than just a hint of Country and a familiar nod to the Blues. His latest single release, entitled "Know Me Now", that I played a minute ago, is a perfect example of Kane's exemplary songwriting prowess and the style of Country music he produces. it's certainly nothing shabby, that's for sure!
