Fans of the Real Kids, DMZ, Nervous Eaters, Classic Ruins and the great early GUW! recording artist Primitive Souls will no doubt remember the Boston Groupie News. And the BNG has now officially recognized new Dog Meat Records signing The Gnomes. This is very cool!!! It's been remiss of me to not share more Gnomes stuff here... so stay tuned for more Gnomes stuff!!

First time I saw The Gnomes play, back in May, the thing they initially reminded me of was the early Real Kids. (Kellie thought more DMZ/Lyres, which I hear too...) So it is a particular thrill to see this bit of coverage in the fantastic Boston Groupie News which, back in the '70s, was THE great Boston punk zine, and which of course covered The Real Kids and the other great local rock'n'roll groups like DMZ, Nervous Eaters, Classic Ruins etc in every issue. (And of course we released a few Real Kids and related things back in the '80s and '90s... ) I'll put a link to the full post in the comments. Our sibling label Dog Meat presents are rare new signing! The Gnomes are a very young band from Frankston, a bayside outer suburb of Melbourne. They are frigging great, and if you dig the early Beatles, Easybeats, Kinks and of course the early Stones - and this label took its name from a track on the Stones' second album, so we trust you do - you will love these guys. Until now known as Gnome, and AS OF NOW known as THE GNOMES, these guys have been causing a stir locally of late with their fresh and spirited update of the garage-beat sounds of The Easybeats, Kinks and early Beatles.

Today they have announced the name change to The Gnomes as well as the pending release of new single “I’m Not the One”, which is out next Thursday, July 31.

A raw and wild live set from the original line-up circa "Hindu Gods", as they were still transitioning from Psycho Surgeons days (it features wild versions of both "Horizontal Action" and "Wild Weekend"). Liner notes by Lorkin and Butler (DNA fanzine). If you've got the "Strange Flash" 2CD you've already heard it. If you've only got the 'Strange Flash' 2LP you haven't.
