Renee Geyer - “Moving Along” (1977)

With her classic “Be There in the Morning”.

I really dig this album, it’s one of those relatively easy albums to find and the price is still fairly low especially when you consider how many Australian Soul albums that were actually released during this period. Her first 4 albums are all solid. The best album is the Renee Geyer Band “Ready to Deal”. Well worth a listen if you dig a little Australian Soul-funk.

Moving Along" is the fourth album released by Renée Geyer. It was her first album recorded in the United States. The project was helmed by legendary Motown figure Frank Wilson, who brought together top-tier American session musicians to support Geyer. Among them were members of Stevie Wonder’s band, such as Nathan Watts and Ray Parker Jr., as well as iconic Motown bassist and Funk Brother James Jamerson. Backing vocals were provided by Venetta Fields, along with Mal and Barry from the Renée Geyer Band, who joined the project at Geyer's request. The album also features a re-recorded version of her Australian hit "Heading in the Right Direction", tailored for the American audience.

Heading in the Right Direction
Be There in the Morning
Quicker Than the Eye
Tender Hooks
Side Two
5. Stares and Whispers
6. Just to Make Love to You
7. Touch
8. Moving Along

Cybotron - “Clear" released in 1983 by the American duo Cybotron (Juan Atkins and Richard Davis), not to be confused by the Australian experimental electronic duo from Australia. This track is still one of the best electro anthems of the era. A timeless classic that never gets old.

I saw this original Promo 7” go for some serious money on ebay!

Anyone ever found a copy of the Australian pressing on Fantasy Records? I’ve had a repress for years but would be interested in talking to anyone with a spare in Melbourne.
