The latest conversation on my podcast is about South-Asian marriages that are 'arranged' - via matrimonial websites, friends or families.

My guest - Madhumita Rai is a writer and cultural observer whose work explores the silent, often uncomfortable truths tucked into the folds of modern Indian life — especially as they relate to women, family, and the emotional cost of societal expectations. With a voice that is at once intimate and incisive, her essays offer sharp reflections on love, marriage, parenthood, and the messy in-betweens that rarely get named out loud.

Her writing has touched on themes such as the pressure on women to “settle” by a certain age — even at the cost of their emotional well-being; the quiet tragedy of babies born to patch up failing marriages; the comic chaos that ensues when Daddy’s Girl marries Mamma’s Boy; and the exhausting dance between daughters-in-law and meddling mothers-in-law — especially when husbands remain passive bystanders instead of becoming empathetic bridges.

Madhumita shares her work across Medium, Substack, and LinkedIn, along with her engaged community on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. While her first book is still in the works, her growing body of essays continues to strike a deep chord with readers who crave honesty over perfection, and resonance over noise.

She writes not to offer answers — but to start the conversations so many are too afraid to have.

Please have a listen to our conversation and help us spread the word.

The recent video conversation on my podcast is all about 'Sustainable Fashion'.

Aleena and Shreya are two corporate professionals who turned their shared passion for Indian fashion into a business. Over a casual coffee catch-up, their conversation about the beauty, richness and cost of Indian outfits sparked a transformative idea—to change the way people buy and wear Indian clothing. This marked the birth of Aleya (Aleena + Shreya) a business dedicated to promoting sustainable fashion through the rental and resale of Indian outfits.

Despite their full-time corporate careers, Aleena and Shreya’s love for creativity and Indian culture propelled them to officially establish Aleya three years ago. Aleena is based in Australia, while Shreya is currently in London.

In addition to Aleya, Aleena runs her own Instagram page, RaniVibes, where she shares her passion for fashion, travel, and mental wellbeing. Shreya is also a strong advocate for mental wellbeing, emphasising the importance of self-love, compassion, and respect.

Their shared values—love for Indian fashion, promoting sustainability, and fostering mental wellbeing through self-compassion and love—are the foundation of their friendship and the driving force behind Aleya. Together, they are inspiring a shift in buying behavior and promoting a more sustainable and mindful future in fashion.

Please have a listen to our recent episode and help us spread the word about sustainable fashion.

I am beyond numbed, to say the least.

Why is this STILL happening in our societies, when we claim ourselves to be an advanced cohort?

I would rather prefer woman safety over AI. Anytime.

The legend of Khona centers around a brilliant female astrologer and poet from ancient Bengal, whose sayings on agriculture, astronomy, and other topics are still widely known. The legend portrays her as a threat to male authority, particularly her father-in-law, Varaha, who, according to the story, has her tongue cut out to silence her.

Female narrative is often silenced. Or muted. But does this happen in the times we live in?

The first panel discussion of the third season on my podcast revolves around 'Sing, Slivered Tongue' - a collection of poetry by women from South Asia writing on trauma.

The latest conversation on my podcast is about dealing with the grief that comes from infertilty and losing a baby.

My guest - Anne Altamore is a lived experience, postgraduate degree qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Coach. She helps people build sustainable grief muscles to carry what can’t be fixed. Her areas of work are in infertility, pregnancy / baby loss, and childlessness. She is experienced in supporting many communities - CALD, heterosexual men & women as well as in the LGBTQIA+ community.

Anne founded Life After IVF to provide a safe healing space for all who have disembarked the fertility treatment roller coaster. When Anne disembarked the IVF roller coaster, she found it difficult to find specialised support and understanding not only around grief and loss but also in redefining her life going forward.

“Maybe you were given this mountain to show others it can be moved.” was a quote that spoke to her loudly when Anne was rethinking options B to Z and beyond when Option A of her own biological child was no longer possible.
While everyone’s journey is as unique as their thumbprint, Anne understands this roller coaster and the myriad of emotions and decisions that follow ending treatment. It is her hope that her educational qualifications, training, and life experience will be able to support you as you move forward with your own Life After IVF .

As a therapist, Anne brings training, evidence-based research, lived experience, and most of all a heart to help. Anne is am not here to fix you – you are not broken. What she is here to do is create a space where you can explore what you need to build your life around your loss, heal and regain your strength to live a beautiful life. Your grief, your rage, your longing, your confusion – all of it is welcome – because Anne knows this journey. And while your journey is different to hers, Anne is here to walk alongside you so don’t have to do this alone.
