The latest episode on my podcast is all about concerns and discussions when it comes to laying 'rules' on how and what should a woman wear an outfit.

Do we need such moral policing standards in the 21st century?

My guest - Trishia Nashtaran (she/her) is a Human-centric Design Specialist with a focus on feminist organizing, futures study, and transdisciplinary research. She has thirteen years of experience in grassroots organizing, community building, entrepreneurship, and strategic communication for intersectional inclusivity. She is the founder and organizer of মেয়ে নেটওয়ার্ক - Meye Network, a feminist grassroots organising platform working towards gender-inclusive futures through storytelling and design thinking across physical and digital spaces in Bangladesh since 2011.

Please have a listen to this important conversation and help us spread the good word.

Climate change is real. Now more than ever.

BUT, what are we doing about it? On an individual and a societal level?

How do we change/edit the narrative to stand together for climate justice and solidarity?

A big thanks to Dr Ruchira Talukdar and Sapna South Asian Climate Solidarity for such an in-depth workshop.

October is Domestic Violence (DV) Awareness Month is the US.

BUT, DV is a social vice that needs to be addressed all the time.

On that note, it was a moment of pleasure and an honour as I got to sit down with two pillars of Narika - An organisation dedicated to address DV and work with survivors in the Bay Area, US.

Narika was founded in 1992 by a group of immigrant women, who identified the need for domestic violence services in the local communities of the Bay Area. These women opened the doors of Narika by use of an informal familial model of service, engaging victims as sisters rather than clients, and helping in several different languages. Their initiative duly evolved into the organized non-profit that today proudly serves the Bay Area as Narika.

Jayati Sinha brings over 17 years of banking experience from Australia to her role as Senior SEED Advocate at Narika. Her deep understanding of financial systems and her passion for empowerment make her a powerful ally for survivors of domestic violence. Jayati believes that financial literacy is a cornerstone of independence, especially for those rebuilding their lives. In addition to her professional expertise, Jayati actively uses her passion for dance and arts to build community. In her journey as a Domestic Violence advocate, Jayati is learning about empathy, resilience, and is looking at bringing authenticity to her advocacy work.

Shubhi is the Community Engagement, Volunteer, and Donor Relations Manager at Narika. Before joining Narika, she has been an entrepreneur, creative strategist, global program manager and community builder. Shubhi has spent many years curating events and meaningful experiences. Her work has always been rooted in one belief: that when people come together with intention and compassion, transformation begins. At Narika, Shubhi brings her creativity, compassion, and deep commitment to women empowerment into everything she does. She is passionately building Narika’s volunteer base which she has named, “The Compassion Squad”, where people from all walks of life come together to support and spread knowledge about Narika’s mission and services. She brings her immense event planning experience and helps plan and organize many community events at Narika. She is also supporting building donor relations that bring in important donations to support our clients and services. For her, this role represents more than a career — it’s a calling.

Please have a listen to our conversation, the facts presented and help us spread more awareness around DV.

For those tuning in from the US, Narika can be found at: https://www.narika.org/

Bipolar Disorder II and OCD are poignant issues that are not openly addressed enough.

But why do we hesitate speaking about these topics?

I had the pleasure of sitting down with my guest - Promira Banerjee to decode the scenes behind living with Bipolar Disorder II.

Promita Banerjee is an author , filmmaker, and producer whose work explores truth, trauma, and transformation. Beginning with her debut novel Songs from Then, she has consistently centered voices often silenced by history. Her storytelling expanded into film after completing the Filmmaking Program at the New York Film Academy, where she discovered a natural affinity for producing and directing.

Her short film Ah Kino earned an official selection at the Hollywood International Indie Screenplay Awards (April 2025). She has since written, directed, and produced projects including Another Day in Paradise (selected in film collection for Voice for Change), Big Sad, and Pirouette, with submissions to festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, Cannes, and London.

Promita’s creative vision is deeply shaped by her lived experience with Bipolar Disorder II and OCD, which fuel her commitment to emotionally resonant, socially urgent narratives. She believes in the power of storytelling, whether through page or screen to inspire empathy, ignite dialogue, and preserve emotional truths.

Qissa - Youtube

The after-effects of Partition can never be truly removed from our and our ancestors’ lives.

The infamous Radcliffe Line was much more than a line - a dent so deep that it scathed our hearts, souls and legacies for generations to come.

Is Qissa about just one specific family that falls prey to the division? Or does it hold a mirror to show the state of millions of such families who had to go through unimaginable trauma of those days.

A story of a father who is so blind in his love for a son that he starts bringing his daughter like one. Was he just another patriarchal man who fell to his ingrained mindset? OR, was he just trying to be protective of the other ladies in the family by ensuring that they had a ‘man’ with them long after he was gone.

Some of the finest acting by Irrfan Khan and Tillotama Shome.

Made me sit and think - our thoughts/mindset are just like ghosts. They stay long after we are gone.

Highly recommend.
