Presenting and producing The Mothership has been without a doubt one of the greatest experiences of my life. There is nothing more that I enjoy than bringing you the funk, the whole funk, and nothing but the funk every fortnight on PBS 106.7FM Melbourne.
Hosting a show on PBS is the ultimate privilege, but also involves many sacrifices. We often literally 'give up food for funk' to find you the records we play.
While I will sacrifice almost anything for the show, sometimes life prospects come knocking on your door that are too important to miss. This week I’ll be starting university, and sadly my semester's timetable clashes with presenting the show.
I have seriously considered attending my classes on the pure energy of the funk alone, but it's probably not the best idea to be sleep deprived for the entire day of your most important classes.
So unfortunately The Mothership will be having a bit of a hiatus over the next few months or so.
But I do promise it will be back, whether it be in the same time slot or another. I feel the world still needs the funk, and ever since the first edition of the show I have pledged groovallegiance to the funk and will not rest until we are one nation under a groove.
I have to say a big thank you to all who have supported the show so far:
The incredible amount of members, the people who forgot to be members (the performer member drive is still going by the way *wink wink*), the musicians, the DJs, the guests, the event runners, the other announcers, the volunteers, the PBS staff, and most of all: the listeners (both local and around the world).
I can't tell you how much each and everyone of you means to me, the show would not be possible without you.
Anyway this sounds like a farewell, but it's only a goodbye for now. I will be back, and I'll probably be filling in on other shows at PBS at a greater rate than I appeared on Mothership in the interim.
You'll also have the opportunity to hear some great new voices on air at PBS, presenting great music each and every second Wednesday morning.
Feel free to stay in touch, and if you ever need a song recommendation or anything else, I would be more than happy to help in anyway I can.
The Mothership will return but for now, Fly On!
