Tonight The Mothership on PBS 106.7FM returns to earth one last time. I know I said I was landing The Mothership in the hanger months ago, but unfortunately due to unavoidable uni clashes it's time to permanently give the slot to a fresh announcer.

I'm not going to bore you with a long winded goodbye post (i've already done that) but i'm going to give you my word that The Mothership will return to you as soon as it can. We haven't even scratched the surface of the abundance of great funk music that is out there.

It's also our Radio Festival 2018 drive here at PBS, so I also want to encourage you to become a member to PBS if you're not already. Without the support from good listeners like yourself, The Mothership would have not been able to exist. PBS is entirely volunteer based, and relies completely on membership funds to keep us independent, eclectic, and most importantly on air.

So please consider becoming a member to The Mothership, or any of the 80+ amazing programs we have here at PBS 106.7FM Melbourne. We only have one bank account, and all memberships go to the exact same place. You can also still sign up to The Mothership (It would be great to see your name on The Mothership member list), but do know you will have the chance to change to another program after it officially wraps up. In the end no matter who you sign up to, you're helping keep our airwaves funky.

Since it's my last show for now, I'm going to be bringing you some of the absolute heaviest funk I own. I'm going all out, and it's the least I can do to return the support all you dedicated listeners have given both myself, and PBS, over the years.

So please listen live from 2-6AM Tuesday/Wednesday morning or anytime on demand at: pbsfm.org.au/newnoise (formerly pbsfm.org.au/mothership)

We're going to tear the roof off the muthasucka tonight!

Check out this brand new live clip from one of Melbourne's finest bands: WVR BVBY.

If you want to experience this groove in the flesh, don't miss their album launch at The Northcote Social Club on the 27th of May.

The Melbourne jazz-inspired eight-piece are certainly worth checking out if you're a fan of BADBADNOTGOOD and the likes.

The Mothership returns.

All killer, no filler on the program tonight.

Plenty of late 70s funk, a bit of old school Sugar Hill Records funk/hip hop, as well as some new releases from Melbourne's funkiest and finest: Ishan Cooper, The Seven Ups, and WVR BVBY.

Tune in live on PBS 106.7FM Melbourne from 2-6am (AEDT), or anywhere/anytime at: pbsfm.org.au/newnoise (temporarily living in the new noise category until I make my permanent return)

Very excited to announce I’ll be making a return to The Mothership on PBS 106.7FM tonight for a special one off program.

Attempting to fit two months worth of funk in four hours. There's going to be plenty of funk from the likes of Prince, BT Express, Chic, and of course copious amounts of uncut P-Funk.

Back in the same time slot of Tuesday/Wednesday morning from 2-6AM (AEDT) on PBS 106.7FM Melbourne. You can listen live on your radio, or on demand via: pbsfm.org.au/mothership or http://pbsfm.org.au/newnoise

Presenting and producing The Mothership has been without a doubt one of the greatest experiences of my life. There is nothing more that I enjoy than bringing you the funk, the whole funk, and nothing but the funk every fortnight on PBS 106.7FM Melbourne.

Hosting a show on PBS is the ultimate privilege, but also involves many sacrifices. We often literally 'give up food for funk' to find you the records we play.

While I will sacrifice almost anything for the show, sometimes life prospects come knocking on your door that are too important to miss. This week I’ll be starting university, and sadly my semester's timetable clashes with presenting the show.

I have seriously considered attending my classes on the pure energy of the funk alone, but it's probably not the best idea to be sleep deprived for the entire day of your most important classes.

So unfortunately The Mothership will be having a bit of a hiatus over the next few months or so.

But I do promise it will be back, whether it be in the same time slot or another. I feel the world still needs the funk, and ever since the first edition of the show I have pledged groovallegiance to the funk and will not rest until we are one nation under a groove.

I have to say a big thank you to all who have supported the show so far:
The incredible amount of members, the people who forgot to be members (the performer member drive is still going by the way *wink wink*), the musicians, the DJs, the guests, the event runners, the other announcers, the volunteers, the PBS staff, and most of all: the listeners (both local and around the world).
I can't tell you how much each and everyone of you means to me, the show would not be possible without you.

Anyway this sounds like a farewell, but it's only a goodbye for now. I will be back, and I'll probably be filling in on other shows at PBS at a greater rate than I appeared on Mothership in the interim.
You'll also have the opportunity to hear some great new voices on air at PBS, presenting great music each and every second Wednesday morning.

Feel free to stay in touch, and if you ever need a song recommendation or anything else, I would be more than happy to help in anyway I can.

The Mothership will return but for now, Fly On!
