In the market today all over the world we are hearing success stories, and failure stories.
It is clearer than ever your offers must resonate with your best customers. It really doesn't matter if you think the offer is "great value for money". Only the customers view really matters.
We have heard of Yum! Brands potentially unloading Pizza Hut onto the market as it has not performed as well as the other brands in their stable.
Contrast this with recent McDonald's results reported late last week.
"McDonald’s has reported another quarter of sales growth as the company’s focus on value drove positive performance in all markets.
The restaurant chain saw global comparable sales increase 3.6 per cent year-on-year for the third quarter ended September 30. This followed a 3.8 per cent increase in the second quarter.
US comparable sales continued its positive momentum with a 2.4 per cent uplift, primarily driven by check growth. International operated markets recorded a 4.3 per cent improvement, with all markets performing well, especially Germany and Australia." (NB Check growth will largely come from price increases rather than "would you like fries with that")
