The three brave Miss Junubia Australia Ambassadors. They came to learn. They left transformed. Young South Sudanese women who stepped into a space designed to challenge, uplift, and empower.

Over weeks of leadership development, they cultivated confidence, clarity, and cultural pride. They learned to speak with conviction, set boundaries with grace, and lead with emotional integrity. But more than that they discovered the power of their own stories.

This photo captures a moment of arrival. Not just at the end of a program, but at the beginning of their journey as role models, advocates, and changemakers.

They are ready to represent their communities with strength and purpose. They are ready to lead ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Miss Junubia Australia Leadership Program was designed to do more than build skills, it was created to ignite transformation. At its core, the program empowers young South Sudanese women to step into leadership with confidence, cultural pride, and emotional integrity.

Throughout the journey, participants explored themes like self-esteem, boundary-setting, mental health, advocacy, and community leadership. They didn’t just learn, they reflected, healed, and grew.

Each session was a stepping stone toward discovering their voice, owning their story, and understanding the power of leading from within.

What they gained:

• Confidence to speak up and represent themselves with clarity.

• Tools to set healthy boundaries and protect their wellbeing.

• Understanding of leadership as service, not status.

• Courage to drive conversations around mental health, identity, and empowerment.

• Connection to community, culture, and each other.

These young women are now equipped not just to lead, but to inspire, advocate, and uplift. They are role models in motion, ready to shape the future of their families, peer groups, and communities.

This is what legacy looks like when it’s rooted in healing, unity, and purpose.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this moment possible.

And to the participants of Miss Junubia Australia you are the reason this exists. Your courage, voice, and vision lit up the space.

This was just the beginning. Thank you for believing in the power of grassroots leadership, cultural pride, and women rising together.

As part of the Miss Junubia Australia Leadership Program, participants engaged in a deeply transformative session on mental health and advocacy, led by the inspiring Nyachan Nyak, founder of Nas Recovery Center. This wasn’t just a workshop it was a moment of truth, healing, and awakening.

Nyachan brought more than expertise she brought lived experience, cultural understanding, and a safe space for vulnerability. Her session invited participants to explore the emotional layers of leadership: the silent battles, the pressure to be strong, and the stigma surrounding mental health in culturally diverse communities. For many of the girls, it was the first time they had openly discussed topics like anxiety, trauma, and emotional overwhelm in a setting that felt both safe and empowering.

They learned that mental health is not a weakness it’s a foundation for sustainable leadership. Through guided reflection, storytelling, and open dialogue, participants began to understand the importance of self-care, emotional regulation, and seeking support. They explored how unspoken pain can affect their ability to lead, connect, and advocate and how healing is a form of activism.

The session also emphasized the power of advocacy: speaking up not just for yourself, but for others who may not yet have the words. Nyachan challenged each participant to become a mental health ambassador in their own circles to normalize conversations, challenge stigma, and create safe spaces within their peer groups, families, and communities.

Many participants left the session with a renewed sense of purpose. They saw themselves not just as future leaders, but as agents of change, young women who could drive conversations that matter, even in spaces where silence has long prevailed. They began to understand that leadership isn’t just about visibility it’s about emotional integrity, cultural sensitivity, and the courage to speak truth.

Through the Miss Junubia Australia program, participants discovered that true leadership begins with self-awareness, confidence, and the courage to lead by example. It’s about making decisions that reflect your values, uplifting others, and standing firm in your identity even when it’s uncomfortable. One of the most powerful lessons came from the Confidence and Self-Esteem session led by Katinda Ndola. The girls learned that healthy boundaries are not barriers, they’re bridges to self-respect. By understanding how to say “no” with grace and “yes” with intention, they began to reclaim their time, energy, and voice.

This shift allowed them to show up more fully not just for others, but for themselves. Many participants shared that before the program, they struggled with people-pleasing, self-doubt, or feeling invisible.

But through guided reflection and peer support, they began to see themselves as role models not because they were perfect, but because they were growing, learning, and choosing to lead with purpose.

Being a role model, they learned, means:

• Showing others what’s possible through your actions
• Speaking up even when your voice shakes• Creating space for others to rise alongside you
• Leading with empathy, not ego.

These insights didn’t just stay in the room they’re already rippling into homes, schools, and communities. Because when young women learn to lead with confidence and boundaries, they don’t just change their own lives they start changing the world around them.

As part of the Miss Junubia Australia Leadership Program, it was essential for participants to engage in meaningful learning around self-confidence, leadership development, and the importance of establishing healthy boundaries both personally and professionally. These foundational skills are critical for young women stepping into roles of influence, advocacy, and community engagement.

To guide this transformative session, we were honoured to welcome Katinda Ndola, founder of the Confidence & Self-Confidence Academy. With her dynamic presence and deep expertise, Katinda created a safe and empowering space where participants could reflect on their self-worth, challenge limiting beliefs, and begin cultivating the mindset of a confident leader.

Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, the girls explored how to assert themselves with clarity, lead with empathy, and protect their energy while remaining open to growth. The session not only equipped them with tools for personal empowerment but also reinforced the values at the heart of Miss Junubia, leadership, resilience, and cultural pride.

This experience marked a pivotal moment in their development journey, reminding each participant that confidence is not just a trait it’s a skill that can be nurtured, shared, and used to uplift others.
